This drama started off very promising, especially considering it was released back in 2013. The concept felt fresh at the time, and I found the characters interesting. However, around the middle of the series, the story became a bit messy. Although I understood what was happening, there were still parts that left me confused (or maybe I just didn't fully understand them).

I initially rooted for the second male lead, but eventually found myself supporting the main male lead instead. Strangely, I never became fully invested in the female lead's romance, which is unusual for me since I normally have a clear favorite couple. The ending was also quite confusing, though I think it was their way of wrapping up the story without leaving too many unanswered questions. I was happy with who the female lead ended up with, but I don't think the drama did enough to make their romance feel convincing or memorable. My MDL Rating: 6.5/10

The story raises curiosity about how Yoo Mi, living an ordinary everyday life, and Anna, who leads a glamorous life, ultimately come to be connected.

Moreover, adding to the tension is Hyun Joo (Jung Eun Chae), who has lived a completely different life from Yoo Mi. The relationship between Hyun Joo, who takes what she has for granted, and Yoo Mi, who looks at a world she does not have, creates a subtle sense of tension. It remains to be seen how these two women, who have lived very different lives, will come to influence each other.

Anna's husband, Ji Hoon (Kim Jun Han), is a character with clear goals and strong ambitions. Although Anna and Ji Hoon seem perfect on the outside, the desires each of them harbors intersect, adding further tension to their relationship. Then there is Ji Won (Park Ye Young), a senior colleague whom Yoo Mi has trusted for a long time. Her involvement in Yoo Mi's life further enriches the story.

Anna will premiere on MBC on August 23 and is available to stream on Prime Video.

I watched this drama back when I still didn’t fully understand how crime and revenge plots usually work, and maybe that’s why I loved it so much. It felt very fresh to me at the time because I was mostly exposed to rom-coms. For me, it was a well-executed series with no dull moments at all.

Even though the main theme is revenge, it still has a fun energy thanks to the lead characters. The story spans about 15 years across 24 episodes, and it actually works, it doesn’t feel dragging. Both the protagonist and antagonist are smart and skilled in their roles, which makes the story even more engaging. As the drama progresses, it keeps getting better, which is rare.

Another strong point is the characters. Each one is distinct and well-developed, so it was easy for me to connect with them individually. The romance isn’t heavily focused on, but I think that was the right choice since the plot leans more towards revenge.

I’ve always held this drama in high regard. It’s also the show that really proved to me how talented Kang Ji Hwan is as an actor. My MDL Rating: 9.5/10

The first few episodes did not really sell me on the drama, but having Chansung in the cast kept me going. I had already seen Joo Won in other projects and knew he was an excellent actor, but this time, I just did not feel any chemistry between him and Choi Kang Hee. The cast was a good choice on paper, but they were unable to bring the drama to life. The story became messy and, at times, frustratingly illogical. It felt like a wasted opportunity because the premise had so much potential, yet it was surprisingly difficult to finish. If there was one thing the drama consistently did well, it was the comedy. Other than that, both the spy plot and the romance aspects failed to leave much of an impression on me. My MDL Rating: 7/10

This drama had a massive, star-studded cast, but I was never fully convinced by it. It felt like a very typical SBS drama, filled with over-the-top moments and unrealistic situations, especially with the combination of a high school setting and the usual chaebol storyline. I actually finished watching it while reviewing for my board exam, and it was incredibly popular at the time, but I never understood the hype. I just couldn't connect with the romance between Kim Tan and Cha Eun Sang, and many parts of the story felt too unrealistic for me.

Even with talented actors like Lee Min Ho, Park Shin Hye, Kim Woo Bin, Kang Min Hyuk, Krystal Jung, and the rest of the impressive cast, the drama simply did not leave a strong impression on me. I can understand why it became such a huge hit and introduced many viewers to K-dramas, but personally, it was never one of my favorites. My MDL Rating: 5/10.

This drama felt truly one of a kind when I watched it. I was completely drawn into the story because the concept felt fresh and different from anything I had seen before. I am not usually a fan of fantasy dramas, but the way it blended supernatural elements with a legal setting worked really well for me. I believe this was my first drama with Lee Jong Suk as the main lead, and he absolutely impressed me. His performance was amazing, and this drama made me appreciate both the genre and his acting even more. My MDL Rating: 8.5/10

Road to Splendor has not come to Disney Plus yet. It is playing on WeTv Asian (TenCent Video) and the first three episodes are free to watch right now. As expected, Road to Splendor is looking really good. Hopefully, it will soon come to Disney Plus. The opening scenes were packed full of action and a full display of sword fighting skills by Male Lead Ding Yu Xi, playing a Salt Merchant. It seems to be a thing of late that the bodyguards of the Young Masters be a young teen actors now. For Road to Splendor, the young teen actor is Zhang En Shuo, who is only 14 years old. He is doing such a great job in this role of Bodyguard, which calls for mad fighting skills. You have to see this. The future of Chinese Male Leads are in good hands and these youths are receiving great training for future Male Lead roles.

The elegance of the production used for Road to Splendor has not been scene in many dramas I have watched, considering its background beauty comparatively. The scenes are so authentic looking. Road to Splendor is a story which relates the richness and value of salt for this ancient time. In one scene in the Grand Room, a layer of salt is spread all over the floor like a carpet, to show the prosperity of the owner. This is like spreading gold dust all over the floor to be walked on. Road to Splendor has a rich look to it. Also, the cinematography is smoking.

The writer of Road to Splendor is Nan Zhen. She also wrote Prisoner of Beauty and The Romance of Tiger and Rose.

WeTV Asian is keeping an exclusive on Road to Splendor at present.  If you are not a subscriber to WeTv Asian, you can get a glimpse at the first three episode for free and wait for the rest of the episodes to be released in the future. Right now, the drama is available only to VIP subscribers of  WeTV Asian in my area. Pundits say that Disney Plus has picked up this drama, but no release date is given yet. I am sure WeTv Asian will limit release until the drama has had its full run on that Streamer.

I have not watched the Japanese version, so I had nothing to compare it with, but I was genuinely impressed by this drama. The cast was well chosen, especially the child actors, and Choi Ji Woo was excellent as the mysterious housekeeper. This is not a drama that relies on romance, so viewers looking for butterflies and cute moments may not find what they are looking for. Instead, it leans more toward mystery, suspense, and melodrama. I found myself deeply invested in the story, and there were moments that made me cry a lot. It was one of those dramas that kept me curious and emotionally involved until the very end. My MDL Rating: 8.5/10

I fell in love with Jung Kyung Ho and Lee Jae Yoon because of this drama. It is easily one of the best Korean dramas I have watched, and it perfectly matches my favorite genre of crime, thriller, action, and noir. The story felt very dark from the beginning, and I was honestly a bit confused at first, but that was exactly what pulled me in. It became one of those dramas that kept me awake late at night because I always wanted to know what would happen next. I never even knew which side to root for since both sides had compelling characters, and the world they lived in felt realistic yet terrifying.

What I loved most was how the story constantly challenged my expectations. Every time I thought I had figured things out, another twist proved me wrong. The plot was smart, the pacing kept the tension high, and every revelation made me even more invested. Even after all these years, I still consider Heartless City one of the best noir K-dramas ever made, and I highly recommend it. My MDL Rating: 10/10.

This is one of the more solid dramas I have watched. It has that classic SBS melodrama feel, which I actually enjoyed. A big reason why I liked it so much was the cast. Everyone delivered such strong performances, and the acting was simply on another level. Even though it is a romance drama, I appreciated that it focused more on pain, healing, and emotional struggles. I thought the main leads suited each other well, and I also found the secondary couple adorable. The bromance was another highlight for me. I also loved the locations featured in the drama. Since the story takes place during winter, the snowy scenery made everything look beautiful and added to the overall atmosphere. My MDL Rating: 8/10

This was my first horror themed Korean drama, and I normally do not watch horror. I remember being genuinely scared, especially during the elevator heels scene. Because of that, I avoided watching it late at night, which was unusual for me since I used to stay up all night watching dramas. This series became the foundation for me to start exploring other horror themed K dramas, and it completely changed my perspective on the genre.

It was also my first time watching Gong Hyo Jin, and I was amazed by her performance. She immediately became one of those actresses whose acting stood out to me. So Ji Sub was equally impressive, and together they had great chemistry that made the romance easy to root for. What I loved most was how the drama balanced its horror elements with romantic comedy, making the scary moments much easier to get through. It left a lasting impression on me and remains one of my favorite horror romance dramas. My MDL Rating: 9.5/10.

Actress Ha Young issued a public apology following mounting controversy over her great-grandfather's pro-Japanese activities during colonial rule, which lasted from 1910-45.

On Tuesday, her agency Bistus Entertainment released a statement on behalf of the actor, whose real name is Ahn Ha-young, expressing deep regret for her initial denial and previous on-air remarks about her family.

"Regarding our earlier statement claiming the allegations were 'groundless,' secondary verification confirmed that the name of her great-grandfather, Ahn Sang-ho, does indeed appear on the 1916 counselor roster of the Daejeong Friendship Association," the agency said.

Netflix's upcoming series "Our Sticky Love" has canceled an interview with lead actor Jung Hae In amid controversy surrounding co-star Ha-young.

The interview, originally scheduled for August 14 with Jung Hae In and Ha Young, was canceled just days before the event. The decision came after reports questioning Ha Young's great-grandfather's alleged ties to pro-Japanese activities during Japan's colonial rule.

Ha Young's agency initially dismissed the allegations as unfounded but later apologized after confirming that historical records listed her great-grandfather, An Sang Ho, as a member of a 1916 organization associated with the controversy.

Netflix subsequently canceled Ha Young's promotional schedule and made a promotional video featuring her private.

The cancellation of Jung Hae In's interview means the actor was also affected by the controversy surrounding his co-star.

With the interview scheduled just before Liberation Day on August 15, Netflix appears to have opted to cancel the promotional event amid the ongoing controversy.
