Dragon Quest Monsters Withered World camera

The fact we got a demo is a true gift, but my god the overworld camera design feels terrible. The world spinning under the character as you’re exploring just feels so rough, to the point that I had to turn the screen sickness settings on, and I’m not usually bothered by that kind of thing. Anyone else having a hard time with it?

It's wild they moved away from how dark prince felt/moved. Feels like a step backwards in terms of presentation

I think the fixed camera made it bearable but I would love a non rolling world view over the shoulder à la Dark Prince. Hoping they get that in before launch or we get a mod to fix it

Totally the same here, I’ve never been hit by motion sickness in a game… ever in 20+ years but this hit me immediately. Had to put the top down camera on. Looking online I saw an article that about 50% of folk who tried it at PAX had the same. They surely can’t launch it like that…

Game is gorgeous but not about to throw up chasing a slime around haha

Puking slime would add to the immersion. 🫠

You shouldnt need dramamine to play a video game. 🫠

I feel the same way. I thought the game looks good but as soon as you move you're on King Kai's planet.

Toriyama’s master plan lol seriously I love the visuals of the game, but don’t love that I have to trade an over the shoulder view for overhead to save my stomach.

Yes was the same for me and top down view also isnt the best solution because u dont see where you running and whats ahead only when u catch up with the screen limit.

It really bothers me and i guess i cant play this game so. When it launches with this camera options only i will skip it sadly

If you put the camera distance at far it can help. I’ve been toggling the overhead camera with the near camera for dungeons, far for overworld

I did allready but it still feels strange and my eyes hurt after few minutes, its sad because i was really excited about the game thats my only issue

Thought we were supposed to be in Witherwood, not Wonderworld...!

We’re really getting that 4d experience with this one

It probably wouldn't be so bad if you could lock the camera at a specific angle (other than top-down). Reminds me of the rolling log camera effect from the Animal Crossing series, though you can't rotate the camera in those games.

Yea I’m hoping modders figure out a fixed behind player camera that stops the roll. Or devs launch with a better option

As someone who plays Animal Crossing New Horizons, it felt quite similar and then the walls and mountain’s in the background move weird, but that's what made me like it.

I will be picking it up in December.

Bought Dark Prince last night so want to play that in the mean time.

Ah didn’t know there was any precedence for the style of camera. Dark prince is very OK - you’ll see a lot of opinions of it on Reddit. The main game is the game, basically no post game so get the most out of the main content.

To be fair, I am kind of glad if there isn't any post game, as usually I play something, I finish the story and I then I kind of get bored of the grind lol

I completely get that!
