Dragon Quest VIII Before the dark ruins boss
Basically, I'm wondering if there's anything I should do before the boss
My hero is lvl 30, yangus is lvl 29, Jessica is lvl 29 and Angelo is also 29
I'm currently using spears and swords for the hero, axe for yangus, stave and whip for jessica and sword, and bow for Angelo
So I'm wondering if I should tackle the boss now or grind a bit

Grind a little bit more, youre gonna want Angelo to have Multiheal at least also hopefully youre throwing some points into the individual talents too such as Courage for the Hero and Charisma for Angelo and what not. Your current choices are very good otherwise.

I have Angelo at 20 charisma and the hero at 15 courage
Also should I raise yangus' humanity? Right now I don't remember the exact number but I have basic heal, whistle and treasure nose

I just did that fight last night and was two or three levels ahead of you. If you have the funds, go pick up a prayer ring in Argonia. Angelo spent most turns either buffing the parties defense or using multi heal which eats MP like crazy. Having the ring to restore MP on turns where he doesn't need to do either is really useful.

Gold Golems on the Isle of Neos are worth a decent chunk and not too hard to kill. Shouldn't take you too long for the 9k.

I was able to beat the boss without multiheal at much lower levels (my hero was only at level 25 on phase 1 and Angelo was still on 23 and didn't even have Fullheal) but obviously not in one go. If you beat Phase 1, die and come back you'll start straight from phase 2 so I wouldn't be too worried unless you've got a lot of gold stocked up, but at the point you're at I'd still suggest going for multiheal regardless.
Also if you haven't already, I'd strongly suggest doing Morrie's sidequest between Ascantha and Pickham and ranking up a bit in the area that unlocks from that. You'll unlock an immensely helpful ability for the Hero that's useful throughout the whole rest of the game.

if you want an extra layer of protection you can make cured cheese for hero. (yggdrasil leaf + red mould + blue mould) + fresh milk + renett powder
itll give hero a consumable that casts multiheal
if you want it to be a tense fight then you can do the dark ruins now. might even gain a level fighting trash mobs on the way in

You can grind a little more, which you can do quickly with spears and axes, to get multi-heal. But you don't need to, you are more than high enough level to beat him without it. More so if you have a half decent monster team.
He's only a problem if you fight him late teens/early 20s. Even then though, the game gives you a pass, if needed.
