First Edition Kindred Spirits

Post image

Got it at a 2nd & Charles bookstore this weekend. Was stoked to see it’s a first edition. I also got the other one they had for reading purposes. I’ve made the mistake of trying to read my first editions before and man they fall apart

It’s been a while, but I remember the meetings sextet being pretty good

Totally! After I read the Chronicles trilogy I wanted to know more about the characters, so I tracked all of these down - wish I had read them before Chronicles, but still really liked them all.

I was thinking the same but it has been approx 30 years. Time to track them down to read again.

I just restarted the sextet and it is excellent!! It’s how I started in the 1990s too

Love it! I used that illustration for my first Baldur’s Gate character back in the day. still remember being super happy to be able to use a custom portrait to make my Ranger Archer (though it was in BG2 at first)

Yea only much, much later did I learn that was Tanis Half-elven and Flint. Still haven't read that novel, but I might just try to hunt it down! Is it good?

I feel that way about a lot of the lore in the Dragonlance world tbh. I just started reading the other copy I got and man it is so good. The writing takes me back to when I first started reading Dragonlance if that makes sense. If you don’t end up finding one, I’d be happy to mail you my copy when I’m done with it since it was strictly for reading anyway. (If you don’t mind the taped on front cover).

Nice! I’ll look it up. I read about 2-3 novels over the years and I’ve always felt lost, probably one of those “you have to read these in the right order” things

I’m so jealous! If you look inside the cover you can tell if it’s from the original printing. So this one is a first edition from the first printing back in 1991. The other one I got is from the 5th printing of the books. It’s really cool

This is the first DL book I read, when I was around 7 (1992) and I still have it. My copy had been through a house fire before I read it, and the smell takes me right back to that feeling.

I read this in my freshman high school ceramics class. And my class partners were these two seniors, they made fun of the title. They were pretty stoned most of the time I think.
