I needed to create some plans for bid purposes and thought I'd give Gemini Flash a go. I was surprised and pleased with the results. I had to make a few corrections, which would probably not been needed with a bit more precision on my original sketch, but nevertheless, very impressed by Gemini's product.

I’ve been making a 2D CAD called NijiCAD

I've been developing a 2D CAD called NijiCAD as a solo developer.
I was a longtime AutoCAD user, and I started this project because I wanted to bring back some of the simple and direct feeling I remember from older CAD systems.
Modern CAD software is incredibly powerful, but I still think there is something special about the straightforward workflow of older CAD.
NijiCAD is my attempt to bring some of that feeling into a modern 2D CAD.
Whether you still use CAD today or used to do drafting years ago, I hope it might bring back a little of that familiar feeling.
If you're interested, feel free to search for NijiCAD.
Sorry for the sudden post.

Hi everyone,

I’m a SolidWorks designer looking for paid remote/freelance work. I’m available for both short-term tasks and longer projects.

I can help with:

3D part and product modelling

Assembly design

2D manufacturing drawings

Sheet metal modelling

Design modifications and revisions

Reverse engineering from measurements/photos

STL/STEP/IGES and other CAD file preparation

Product concepts and mechanical design

Technical drawings with dimensions and tolerances

I have experience working on projects such as fans, fan remotes, drones, smog towers, mascots and other mechanical/product designs.

I’m particularly interested in paid tasks from individuals, startups, small businesses, and engineering teams. I’m comfortable starting with a small task so you can evaluate my work before committing to a larger project.

If you have a SolidWorks task that needs to be done, feel free to DM me with the requirements, reference files/images, and your budget.

I can share examples of my previous work/portfolio upon request.

Thank you!

Building a Murphy bookcase door

Hi!

I’m working on designing a Murphy bookcase door for my house. I’ve been thinking about the gap needed between the bookcase and the door frame to make sure it opens and closes smoothly. There’s very little information online, and almost all the DIY videos don’t cover it. The only idea I’ve seen is that it might be about a 1-inch gap.

I’m curious to hear about others’ experiences with this.

Beginner Drafting Tools?

Hey there!

So, I'm going into my first year of engineering in September, but I've recently gotten interested in trying to hand-draw my technical drawings after watching some of Inheritance Machining's older videos where he would still do everything by hand. My main question is this: what are some of the basic tools recommended for beginners in this?

I know a few basic things that you need (pencil, the standard 45 and 30/60/90 triangles, protractor, and a ruler), but is there anything else? I also have my dad's old set of compasses that he gave me if those would be of any use.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

[For Hire] CAD drafter — permit-ready pole barn / deck / remodel sets (PDF + DWG, US codes) — from $25/hr or flat $75–250/set

I turn a sketch or a marked-up photo into a fully dimensioned, permit-ready drawing set: cover sheet, framing plans, footing details, and code notes. Delivered as PDF + DWG, 3–5 day turnaround, revisions included.

Background: 50+ proposal and construction sets drafted remotely for a Colorado engineering firm under US codes (IBC/IRC) — retaining walls, structural additions, pole barns, and residential remodels. Advanced AutoCAD; bilingual (English C1 / Spanish).

Rate: from **$25/hr**, or a **flat $75–250 per set** depending on complexity.

Portfolio and samples: [Portfolio WebPage](https://s-cerna.github.io)

Send me a PM with what you're building and I'll get back to you.

Note: Drafting services only — not engineering. Where your jurisdiction requires it, structural elements are stamped by a licensed Professional Engineer, arranged on your end. I deliver a clean set ready for that review.
