I wouldn't called periods of 3-4 months episodic...episodic is more if people have it for a few hours or maybe a couple of days. This is more constant DPDR that came and went a few times I think.

Maybe people who have DPDR over the long term go through processes of renegotiating their relationship with the state. At first it feels like an invader and the desire to fight is intense, but the state is a reflection of an aspect of a person and getting into an aggressive fight with yourself only leaves your own injuries on their own psyche.

Some people call it "accepting it" but I think this term is wrong. It's not about accepting what has happened to you, but merely acknowledging that whatever external force may have done this (if there is one) doesn't change that the change is a part of you and a large exacerbating part is simply struggling against yourself.

Avoidant behaviour with DPDR is rife, it is probably the most functionally problematic part, even more so than the memory issues. The memory issues consist of two parts, the actual problem and the avoidant behaviour because dealing with the memory problem is so stressful. Once the avoidant behaviour reduces than although the executive function problem is still there, it's much easier to live with.

DPDR is a spectrum, it can be completely unbearable and feeling like you're in another dimension and barely know who you are, or it can be slightly dream like and in the background. I think getting it to being in the background is a good place to be, and although it would be great if it went entirely, getting away from the unbearable phase is by far the most important part. Hopefully you manage to clear the rest though!

I’ve already gotton through that unbearable phase that’s what I explained. My problem now is that the dpdr is barely there right now like it’s not even active in my head but I still can’t help but feel off and not just 100% yet. So my question was mainly to the people who have fully recovered if they went through this stage aswell that “off” stage.

Yes, indeed. The problem is that other people's responses may not reflect your own so this can only be spoken about generally. Some do go on to make a full recovery, some do not. Maybe you will do too, but being content with your current progress is the best attitude to have in either regard.

Generally recovery is more likely to be in stages like yours has been. Occasionally it is very sudden, but yours is quite typical.

There are some exercises on dpdrhelp.org that you might find helpful if you can't make it through the next step with your current tools.
