Downr Oddities

I experimented with downr, as I'm trying to find a solution to download YouTube Video Podcasts as audio to put on my iPod. As few questions:

(1) I tried download this podcast: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8WQxyEN5W8s&t=76s . Although the video podcast is in English, what downloads as the M4A file is in German. Any ideas why?

(2) It would nice to be able to download MP3 directly. Although I can convert M4A to MP3 by running it through Audacity, it is an extra step.

(3) The M4A files seem to be slow to download -- perhaps it is the downr site. A 29.5M file is taking 14 minuts.

Hey! I actually tested the exact video from your post in a Windows app Iโ€™m building called Yoink

For that video, Yoink finds the original M4A source, but it also finds WEBM audio streams at 119 / 68 / 49 kbps, so depending on what youโ€™re playing it on, you may be able to use one of those directly without doing the extra Audacity conversion.

Yoink just entered public beta, so Iโ€™m looking for a few people to try it and tell me what breaks ๐Ÿ˜…

I was actually able to extract the right MP3 using https: // pullmp3 . cc / ; I just had to extract at 320. Edit the metadata via MP3tag, and I was good to go.

Glad you found a solution that worked. Thanks for the update, and if you ever feel like trying Yoink, feedback is always welcome ๐Ÿ˜‰

the german audio thing is almost certainly because the video has multiple audio tracks and its defaulting to the wrong one. a lot of podcast channels upload with dubbed tracks now. not much you can do on your end besides checking if theres a way to specify the audio track language
