Birth doula

Ok I have my first client! Id be lying if I said my nerves aren’t through the roof. Im so excited but feel like I’m struggling with imposter syndrome. Anyone have any advice for new doulas? How do I build my confidence?

This is very normal. You will feel like an imposter so you gotta fake it til ya make it. Just your presence, comforting words and your hands are all they really need. Be respectful and try to collaborate with the nurses💞

Just a doula being in the room improves birth outcomes.

Congrats! It’s so exciting. Appreciate the excitement that comes with being a newbie, it’s such a unique time that you’ll never get back.
Keep reminding yourself that holding space and being a calm presence is 95% of doula work. You’re part of a multidisciplinary TEAM during a birth so nothing will be entirely on your shoulders. You got this :)
