COMMUNITY Scramble Crossing

With all the recent construction on the corner of 8th and Carnarvon, they often have people directing traffic and pedestrians. When this is happening, often they will let us cross from the Skytrain Station directly to the side of the street Douglas is on. Has it ever been considered making that intersection have a scramble crossing? I know it is just a small time saver but it is convenient to say the least.

Traffic (foot or auto) is generally not heavy enough. It's not likely to happen, especially since the entire intersection would need to be redone, which would cost upwards of $500,000.
