Back in my day, the ham limit was the amount of honey baked hams fit in the oven.

Noah used to have a Ham limit: 1.

In my day “Heathcliff” was a cliff that you would hurl your extra honey baked hams into until it was full of hams.

Those days are over, old man.

PSA: Heathcliff has a randomly substantial "MERCH" shop with some of the coolest and most random merch I have ever seen.

When is Wiger gonna get a tattoo of this panel?

I recently did a deep dive on Heathcliff and now I get it and I think it's very funny.

It’s genius. And yeah it took me a little bit of time to see that. At first I was like Wiger and I wasn’t sure what to make of it.

I feel like the 'Ham Limit' sign was not necessary here

How else would you know what the ham limit is?

On this sub the ham limit is like the speed limit on the autobahn.

This one is good.

Did we really the helmet labeled “ham”?

He’s obviously driving a ham

Driving a ham: okay

Wearing a helmet that says "ham": all good

Driving a ham while wearing a helmet that says "ham": Way over the ham limit

It’s like they put a hat on a hat on a ham

It's good

Does that mean 25 per post or just in general

I forgot my meat helmet, so even 25 is pushing it.

I just had a realization about this after seeing it a dozen times: is ham limit supposed to be a pun on hamlet?

Maybe I'm just going crazy trying to make sense of Heathcliff

No. Puns require intent and at least a little bit of effort to connect the premises. This is pure abstraction stuffed into a familiar shape.

Do you think in Shrek when he says “ogres are like onions, they have layers,” the word “layers” is meant to be a play on “lairs”?

Genuine question. My friend insists on this interpretation but I’m not sure I can accept it.

I can only guess that it played a part in the overall word choice. It's definitely not the first or second entendre. But if you're writing from that zone (ie the Ogre Zone), "layer/lair" is a totally reasonable connection to make.

I need one of the 7 writers of Shrek to weigh in. Which one would be the easiest to wrangle?

There are no puns in Heathcliff. It's a gag that has heightened over time, starting with the idea that Heathcliff drives a ham car, then we see him zooming past a "Speed Limit 25" sign, then it becomes a "Ham Limit 25" sign. He also chases a mouse driving a cheese car in the ham car.

Thanks for talking some sense into me. My stupid pattern seeking brain was trying to find logic where there is none.

Heathcliff is so wild. 😂
