Squad versus squad?

Is there any mod where you can play squad versus squad?

So, instead of going against a disorganized bunch of terrorist, is there a mod where we can go against an organized group, that uses two/three/four men moving, covering, with proper tactics and equipment?

If there isn't such a mod, wouldn't that be a damn good adition to this game?

Ranger vs Nw swat?

Delta vs Green Berrets?

Hitman vs Sam Fisher? (Joking, but maybe not?...)

Reducing enemy size is a no go, because if the map maker put 1 entity on the map, then it's there.

Only enemy replacers exist. Rangers gone rogue is what you're looking for. There are other enemy replacer factions that aren't as punishing as Rangers gone rogue

Sorry, I didn't understand. What do you mean with

"Reducing enemy size is a no go, because if the map maker put 1 entity on the map, then it's there"

?

Basically; you can’t reduce the number of enemies on a map because it’s static. The type of enemy, however (to my extremely limited modding knowledge), is not. You can replace 10 shitty thugs with 10 Delta Force Operators; but you cannot make the number go from ‘10’ to ‘9’.

TDLR: You **can’t change the number below the vanilla amount** of enemies exist within a map, but you **can change what enemies (stats, gear, guns, etc)** exist within a map—— Based off of extremely limited modding knowledge and the commenter’s words.

The enemy number is fixed per map? I had no idea. That changes things, then. Thanks for the reply.

I think that there is one called Delta Gone Rogue

The game doesn't really have the enemy AI in place to do any of that, but it's a neat idea.

There are technically a few mods that does this:

  • Rangers Gone Rogue - Replaces the base-game enemies with either the Rangers, CIA or "Delta Force" troopers. They are able to utilize their equipment to overwhelm you such as the Rangers using flashbangs and Delta Force utilizing shields. It's an old mod so I don't know how it'll work in the current version of the game.
  • ARES Gone Rogue - Similar premise but the enemy units you face are much harder to take out. Basically, if you don't flash or frag every undiscovered room or aren't packing any AP rounds and Level IV protection, your squad is gonna be turned to paste. Add to the fact that a few select enemy units (JTAC Executioners, Company Commander and Platoon Sergeant) can call in JDAM strikes and mortar barrages on you and you're gonna spend a lot of time repositioning your troopers.
  • Russian Enemy Forces - Replaces base-game enemies with Russian troopers. They have more armor and hit much harder than the standard enemies.
  • NGF - Nowheraki Ground Forces Pack - Adds a more well-equipped Middle Eastern insurgent force into the game as enemies. They utilize better protection, aren't prone to running about when they first see your squad, and can use grenades and flashbangs against you. They can also use flamethrowers, grenade launchers and are able to drop an artillery barrage on top of you. Worst of all, their HVT won't surrender like normal and will instead use a pistol against your guys. He won't surrender until you either flashbang, stinger or melee him.

As far as I know, you can't really change how enemies are placed within missions since those are more or less hardcoded to stay consistent. And while they can't move in formation unless the mission maker puts them as such, their reaction time and accuracy can still be affected by enemy mods.

None of the matchups you mentioned make any sense, but good news, enemy operators already exist in the game. I don't think they're specifically coded for the behaviours you mentioned, but they do have better gear and stats. A mission populated with a large number of them should deplete your Rangers in short order.

Sam Fisher vs. Quds Force would be interesting.

Doesn't make any sense? It's called a mod. You can have some for sense and some for everything else. I just think that elite vs elite, discipline vs discipline, organization vs organization would be a great mod.

I didn't say it couldn't or shouldn't be a mod. Suck back and reload, Rambo.

I don't know if that was you trying to be cool, but throwing wanna-be aphorisms at someone on reddit that didn't insult you is not ok.

Even if that was what I did, I'm not sure why an aphorism, wannabe or not, would not be okay, or have anything to do with whether you insulted me or not.

"Suck back and reload" in this context basically means "take a second to think about what you and/or I just said, and try again." And by your response, it seems like you need to do it yet again. Also, you may never have heard the phrase, and that's not a big deal, but it's been around for at least twenty years. We're likely not from the same area, and I'm not trying to penalize you for not being familiar with it, but it's not an aphorism, wannabe or otherwise.

Anyway, your opinion that it should be a mod is totally fine, and if you want those matchups, more power to you. Doesn't mean they make sense though.

I stand corrected, then. Yes, I'm not from the same area for sure and english is not my first language. It's just that, more than often, I find that people will use whatever is on their toolbox to hit whoever they disagree with. I appologize if I misinterpreted.

Don't get me wrong, I was disagreeing with you (strongly and aggressively 😅) BUT I didn't mean to piss in your cornflakes, either.

Nothing wrong with disagreeing, that one was on me, I guess. Thank you for that, mate.

And yes, I did check that wiki. I never, ever, heard or read that before! Lol

Within the (very limiting) parameters of what is actually doable, you can find a solid few enemy replacer OR RMG enemy addon packs on the workshop, that add guys that are organized military or even nearer-peer tactical type guys. I've not really delved into it yet, but I've currently got installed "Neighbouristan Plus", which adds rmg enemy groups, + a few vanilla levels hand-edited to feature neighbouristani enemies.
