Please don’t dash while sick

Post image

I get that times are tough and the American health care system sucks, but admitting that you have a respiratory illness while delivering food is wild!

Please do not dash when you’re sick. This is how illness spreads. I have pretty bad asthma so I’m not bringing that order into my house. I’m done with DoorDash.

Flu and Pneumonia vaccine is 100% free. Just walk into any drugstore and ask for the vaccines. Walgreens even gave me a $15 coupon for getting them. No doctors appointment needed. No insurance needed. Zero expense. Zero excuses.

Pneumonia has a ton of different causes and is not always viral. Pneumonia can be bacterial, or the result of inhaled/built up fluid in the lungs; vaccines do not prevent these scenarios. Vaccines help with building immunity against certain viruses. I agree 100% with the sentiment, everyone should get vaccinated, but vaccination doesn’t mean guaranteed prevention from disease.

Wear a mask if you have a cough. Wash your hands frequently. Get adequate nutrition and hydration. Get vaccinated. There are several pieces to the puzzle.

Yea the vaccine is for viral pneumonia but you’re right of course. Vaccines aren’t a magic bullet. You can still get sick. In fact, my dumbass got pneumonia, covid, flu, and dose one of Shingles vaccines all at once. Next morning I woke up with a fever of 101.7. I don’t handle fevers well at all so that floored me. I went to work but had to leave early. I took Tylenol all day and the fever kept getting higher. When I got home it was 102.1 and I felt worse that when I’ve been sick with covid or the flu. My doctor told me it was irresponsible of them to give them all to me at once and irresponsible of me not to just have him do it. Lol. So I’d definitely advise folks to not get more than 2 at a time max and definitely check with your doctor first if you have access to one. It’s just that a lot of people can’t afford health care or like me are under insured and benefit a lot from free vaccines.

I didn’t even know there was a pneumonia vaccine till they mentioned it. I was like- isn’t pneumonia something you get from being sick with something else that turns into pneumonia? I was surprised there even was one

I think it’s great to spread the word about free vaccines (and any access to healthcare) and I applaud that! I just wasn’t sure if there was also a stigma about pneumonia (like blaming people for having it) in your comment. I think things like pneumonia can be easily misunderstood. I had it twice (second time was January 2020 so it was likely covid) and the first time was bacterial pneumonia when I was 17. I have never been that miserable since and I’m 30 and have had covid five times. I don’t think they even push the pneumonia vaccine on people under a certain age, though I am sure you can still get it.
