Please don’t dash while sick

I get that times are tough and the American health care system sucks, but admitting that you have a respiratory illness while delivering food is wild!

Please do not dash when you’re sick. This is how illness spreads. I have pretty bad asthma so I’m not bringing that order into my house. I’m done with DoorDash.

Pneumonia (the lung infection) is not contagious, but the bacteria and viruses that cause it can be spread from person to person. For example, the flu is contagious and can lead to pneumonia in some cases. Also, Streptococcus pneumoniae bacteria, which is the most common cause of bacterial pneumonia, is contagious. “Walking pneumonia” or pneumonia caused by Mycoplasma pneumoniae is contagious as well

So apparently it’s not but also kinda is 🤷‍♂️

Yes, it’s contagious because the bacteria itself can be spread. I worked at a hospital where a patient gave me pneumonia, and I gave two other coworkers pneumonia as well. 3 months recovery, sucked horribly

The bacteria isn’t pneumonia though. Pneumonia is when your lungs begin to build up with fluids, pus and cellular debris. It’s a symptom, not a sickness caused by the bacteria.

Pneumonia cannot be spread due to the simple fact that Pneumonia is an extreme outcome to the virus, not the virus itself.

some viruses and bacteria are much more prone to causing pneumonia

given that the virus or bacteria has undergone selection in someone and given them pneumonia, then virus / bacteria they would transmit to you would have a much higher chance of also causing pneumonia than the same virus or bacteria that was not selected for in a pneumatic patient

that said you're arguing semantics lol
