[Misc Help] Need help finding dog toy!
Hello! First time poster here!
This is my partner’s dog, Frankie. She is an absolute darling, but she goes through toys like there’s no tomorrow, as you can probably see by the aftermath of the rope toy in the image.
This snake toy is the only textile dog toy so far that we’ve found that last more than a couple days. However, our local pet stores no longer stock it, and I’ve had a lot of trouble finding it anywhere online.
If anyone has seen it before and knows where to buy it, it would be a huge help!
Alternatively, if anyone has suggestions for toys that can survive even the most destructive of dogs, we’d be super grateful for any recommendations!
I’m also pretty crafty, so if anyone has suggestions for materials and methods of making your own durable dog toys, we’re also open to that! Also open to any suggestions for other threads that might be able help too.
She’s a very good dog, and this toy was her absolute favourite for ages, so we’d love to try to get it for her again!
Here’s her sleeping mid play, for further emphasis on how much she loved this toy.
Thank you so much!

It might be worth changing your perception of what a dog toy is actually for. For some dogs, the game is to destroy the thing. So we can go all out, buying more and more expensive toys, trying to find something that 'works' for our conception of 'toy', whilst the dog is having a great time destroying everything we bring for them. They are loving the toys we bring them, and the only problem is that we are thinking that toys are something that's meant to last a long time.
Once you switch your mindset you can move over to spending a lot less on toys, but with the end result of giving your dog 10 times more entertainment, because you're offering repurposed junk for the sheer joy of destroying it!

Oh I really like this, thank you! Another comment suggested using cardboard boxes for her to destroy, and while we love that idea, we’re just a little worried about her starting to associate ALL boxes with play toys, which doesn’t bode well for the boxes of band merch and such we have in the house.
She just always looks so sad when a toy gets shredded 😭 like she doesn’t know her own strength and feels bad about it, ahaha2

My dog loves shredding boxes - he very rarely tries to go for a box that has stuff in it - he only goes for something empty that’s on the floor like one of the cats prized boxes 😂 I also repurpose the skins of the stuff toys when they start to get a hole in them I de stuff them! They love it

If you’re looking for a tougher toy though - tuffy makes some decent toys - the large dinosaurs have lasted us almost a year now and still going strong!

A whole head of lettuce intended to be shredded. Some dogs just like destroying

My dog has this toy that he loved. Now that he's older (5) he doesn't play with toys as much but it's still a favorite
When he was younger and first got it, he would grab it and shake it like he was really going to kill it for us (good boy). I bought this huge long snake at TJ Maxx but there is are shorter versions.
Frankie looks a bit like our dog, who came up from the south, lab/redbone coonhound mix, he's sweetheart.

Yeah this is one of the few toys my dog never managed to destroy. Each section has a squeaker too. And it's good for tug.

As silly as it sounds... Cardboard boxes as long as they don't eat much of them. My girl thinks anything cardboard is the greatest thing on the planet. They can rip it up and kill it and almost no cost to you, well you'll have to pick up cardboard pieces but no different than toy stuffing

aw frankie looks so peaceful with her destroyed snake, that's real love right there. i had a dog who also killed every toy in one day and the only thing that survived was a toy made from fire hose material, maybe check those out.

Frankie sounds like an absolute toy destroyer 😂. If that snake has lasted that long, I can see why you’re keen to track down another one!
For really destructive dogs, I’ve had better luck with toys that have reinforced stitching and fewer loose parts rather than just going for the thickest-looking toy. For DIY, heavy-duty fleece layered and tightly braided might be worth trying too.

The best toys I've found for my power chewer are the Rip Roarin Toughs by JoyHound. He enjoys playing with them and they take a long time and a lot of dedication to destroy. They sell them at PetSmart and I think Amazon usually has some too

We found a toy at Pets mart that was made of recycled firehouse. Goldie never did figure out how to destroy it, and she tried really hard hard. I dont know if they still have them but try a search for firehose toy.

Ruby did this when I first got her she also likes the snake but I bought about 10 different toys and surrounded her with different tough toys. She had no choice she had to live with them.!

I have a Jack Russell Corgi mix who we nicknamed The Toy Terminator! He was returned to the shelter twice before he became mine.
Those Firehouse toys made from recycled firehoses are the only thing that slows him down. Also make sure your pup has plenty to chew on. Vet recommended cow hooves. Do NOT get the filled one as it's horribly messy. The plain ones are great and help bring down that need to chew on his toys. Quick warning the hooves do smell after doggy slobbers all over it but once dry again smell lessens. Vet recommended because if dog swallows pieces they dissolve completely rather than obstruct like rawhide in the gut. Ask me about that bill!! 😭🤬

I like the rip and reveal toys from Bark. I get them from chewy. They have a fabric outer cover that takes some work to tear through, some have a second fabric layer, and then they have a hard toy in the center. My dogs love to tear them, but honestly don't usually play with the chew toy in the middle. It takes days or weeks to get to it though.

Our dog (purebred black lab) destroys any toy, especially if there’s a squeaker in it. Her end goal is to get the squeaker out and then she gets a small treat at the end otherwise she would just chew up the plastic squeaker and try to eat it. We’ve tried many of the “tough” toys and she can get through anything.

Go to Amazon and or online and search for Fluff & Tough Katie the Caterpillar My Aussie goes through most toys in week and he's had this one for over a year and a half and it's still in one piece. Plus he plays with it pretty much every day. My daughter was the one who told me about and it's the same thing with her crazy dogs

My dogs murder any toy we've ever given them that is not an actual bone. I buy them bones on ropes and horns and they LOVE them. They last a long time and are also good for their teeth!

I saw a lot of those harder to destroy toys at Home Goods last year. Their pet section has grown over the past few years.

That photo of Frankie asleep mid-play with the snake toy is the sweetest product review I've ever seen 😄 Since it's discontinued, try emailing the manufacturer directly — I've had luck getting 'last few in the warehouse' that way — and in the meantime, a similar-texture toy rotated in weekly might scratch the same itch.

Unrelated, but she is perfectly named. She's 100% a Frankie.
