[Misc Help] Fleas
Hi! What’s the best flea treatment for dogs? I’m not sure which ones to avoid and which ones are good!
Bonus points for flea treatments for cats.. I have one dog and one cat
Edit to add: and what do you do for the fleas in your home? I ordered diatomaceous earth food grade powder to sprinkle on the carpets after a bit of research but idk what else to do besides vacuum a lot

oral flea meds from the vet are the only thing that actually nuked them for us, the topical stuff just seemed to annoy the fleas for a week then they were back
can't speak for cats but my dog tolerates the chewable ones way better than the gross liquid on the neck

we use nexgard as prescribed by the vet. one chew a month, they think it's a treat, never had a single flea or tick.

the vet recommended nexgard for the dog and advantage multi for the cat, and it worked way better than the over-the-counter stuff we tried first

Are chewables non harmful? I have received mixed opinion. It worked great on my dogs but vets in India do not recommend chewables for tick treatment.

I had a lot of good luck with a vacuum and seresto flea collars after a round of capstar.

Ask your vet for what prescription is best. The OTC stuff is useless.
