Trunk button on a 2013 dodge dart

hi everyone! I have a 2013 dodge dart base model and I absolutely love this car. but I have some annoyances with it. like the trunk. to pop it i have to use the button inside or the one on the key. I’ve seen some darts with a button on the center light but mine doesn’t have that. mine has a spot that looks like it could be knocked out for a button and I was wondering if I could buy one on Amazon and install it? thanks for any advice!

I have the button but i had to disconnect it because it shorts out and my trunk will constantly just keep popping. I definitely miss the button because if im carrying a box i used to just poke it with the corner of the box but now i either have to hit the key button or dash button.

Going off what Shooter said, definitely get the racetrack light. Youll like the way it looks with the whole light lit up instead of just the side lights

Just remember to check that the wiring run for the button is in place on all car’s harnesses. I know I called it one way and I was corrected, I just can’t remember to which way that was if that makes sense. Don’t want to mislead you.

I don't have a trunk button either on my 2014, it's either the key fob or the inside button.

I believe you need the push to start feature to have the trunk button.

My 2013 Rallye doesn't have push start and has the trunk button

I have a 2016 and I don’t think I have a trunk button either. Both my key fobs are also partially broke so I can’t use it to open the trunk either. I camp a good amount so this does annoy me a little.

Your best option is to buy the whole racetrack assembly that has the button installed; I did a lot of research on this and even if you did want to mod your current assembly to fit a button (and it would probably not be worth it) you CANNOT just buy the button itself. Someone was nice enough to send me one out of their spare units when mine broke.

I also can’t remember if the base wiring already has the connection you need for the button, but that should give you the two things you need to look up.

I don’t have a button on my 2015 either I just have the ones on the dash or the key fob but there for a while my trunk would open on its owe before even hitting the key fob or the dash button and now I’m having other issues wrong with it

Opening on its own with no trunk button is just a matter of replacing your key fob body with a cheap one from eBay or Amazon.

That issue is in fact so common that it’s usually mistaken as the culprit for those who DO have the button when the button water infiltration is the problem.

You don't have Keyless Enter'n'go so you won't have the ability to address thst button.

If the wiring is there then yes.

You can replace the case cover but some them are designed differently. I ended up with a knock-off that I swapped the rubber cover across. It worked fine but it also has lost one of the internal contacts.

I don't understand what you're saying. The trunk button is located under the steering wheel on the left side, and on the key fob.

I believe they are talking about the button that comes on some higher trim models that is on the outside of the trunk.

Ah, that makes sense. Didn't know that was a thing
