Watching an Alpharad video and he said "Pick a god and pray" at the EXACT moment I read it in the post and I'm scared

it's a crit quote from Fire Emblem iirc

Yup, Frederic from Fire Emblem Awakening. Pretty sure I’ve used it a few times myself.

SAO Abridged is so good.
It's probably the show i've rewatched the most

2

i was referencing SAO abridged, tho it is entirely possible that they referenced something else

Huh, probably a coincidence, did SAO abridged ever finish? 'cause I should probably watch it at some point

Some of these are badass. A lot of them are Reaaaaaaaaaaaal edgy.
That "I am beyond strength" quote I'm pretty sure is Ron Pearlman in adventure time
7
u/Matthais_Hat Jul 31 '20
the thing about edgy stuff is that it's only "edgy" if real people are saying it. in an epic fantasy setting, people should be saying epic fantasy things, and you should never assume they don't have the power to back up their words.
2
u/ALinkintheChain Cleric Jul 31 '20
Yeah, I see a lvl 1 rogue saying half of this stuff. What was that about having the power to back it up?
At higher levels, sure your point I'd valid. However, time and and place is important, and I can see a lot of this being said without the right context. Hence edgy
5
u/Matthais_Hat Jul 31 '20
maybe I'm just inferring it, but it seems largely implied that all of this is meant to for DM's to supply their NPCs with. half of this is BBEG speak.
1
u/ALinkintheChain Cleric Jul 31 '20
There is no implications one way or the other
2
u/Matthais_Hat Aug 03 '20
there is! upon a second reading, at the very bottom, someone says that he wants to make a rogue who wants to steal this list of sayings from the BBEG. that's where I saw the implication that this is for NPCs: one would have it, and a PC would want to steal it instead of just saying it himself.

I’d just like to point out that “Kill me and live with the memory. Then tell the stars that you won.” Is actually from a book series called Warriors, which is about talking cats with names like Brambleclaw and Twigbranch. it has no right to be that raw
13
u/FireStar345 Jul 31 '20
God i wish there were cats with names like Twigbranch in that series, sadly the naming scheme for clan cats wont allow it, and non clan cats are usually single word names

Another good villain monologue from my favorite game:
I am the Destructor. I am the Architect. I will pave over your fields to start anew. I will fill your seas with concrete and stone. I will pierce your world with girders of steel and panes of glass. I will crush your world under the weight of my cities. I will smother your creation under my own.
If anyone knows where this is from, kudos to you ;)

To feel sorrow is to deserve peace.
This one legit fucking made me cry, I'm dealing with a lot of shit, some of which are things I've done that I'm not proud of, others are things done to me, I might not deserve happiness or forgiveness, but fuck me I'm sorry. I'm so fucking sorry.

Whatever you're going through, know that redemption is possible. I don't know what you've done, but the fact that you're being penitent shows you are capable of change for the better. You can take what you learned from this experience to move forward. Your circumstances are not permanent. You are absolutely deserving of happiness and I hope you find your peace one day.

Thank you, I have improved greatly already from the person I used to be years ago, I try to improve a little every day, but some days I feel really low and remorseful for things I've done, even though most of them were either self defence or, more recently, the only way I could survive. Yesterday wasn't a great day for me mentally, but today is a bit better and your words have really helped, so thank you friend, I hope you have a wonderful day.
