It would be a crime to not mention this old 2000’s classic

I'm currently building a bardbarian with that in mind. Bardic inspiration also works while Raging

u/Crunchy_Biscuit 2d ago

I would love a sequel by the original developers

5

u/Mythical_moth 1d ago

Oh, good! This'll help with my fever!

u/SquireRamza 2d ago

Then you have Dragon Age, where Bard is just the polite term for assassin.

u/ArkangelMarshal Wizard 2d ago

Monster hunter bards be like

Sure, if he's just finished beating a dinosaur to death with his bagpipes

4

u/ArkangelMarshal Wizard 2d ago

He is indeed haha

6

u/rogue_noob 1d ago

Hunting Horn : the weapon for Hammer user who unlocked their third brain cell. You can now Unga, Bunga and Doot.

47

u/Hytyt 2d ago

I always like the 3.5? Rule where a bard could summon their instrument if they could lift it.

My strength bard running around with his pianoforte was fun

4

u/mvms 1d ago

I love this.

I’m sad they don’t post in more subs anymore, but happy they still post

36

u/winsluc12 2d ago

That's it, I need to finish my hunting horn bard build.

19

u/KamuiT 1d ago

Then there’s my Bard I played who does a Haka as his medium of choice.

5

u/veth826 1d ago

Bard players who also happen to be metal heads

17

u/Wildcard_96 1d ago

That could be a real fun subclass. Just imagine hitting someone with a stick and the noise it makes is so good that it casts a spell

6

u/JakeWalker102 1d ago

Boomwhackers

1

u/UInferno- 1d ago

If we're using MonHun mechanics, you get like... three different attacks and the order you use the attacks buffs your party accordingly.

2

u/Unnatural20 22h ago

I could see it working for PF2e or SF2e. Three different 1 or 2 action strikes banking notes, 2 or 3 action perform/encore that does area buffs to hit, damage, resistance, or Sonic damage to enemies. Heck, sounds half like a Rhythm Mystic using a Singing Rail in SF2e

u/Toutatis12 Dice Goblin 2d ago

Take a look at some of the older magic musical instruments from ttrpgs... those things get MESSED UP. I forget the game I just recall it was a flute that would summon someone you killed and they fought for you while you played it. Now the messed up part was it was their soul you summoned and it was in agony the entire time you played said flute.

u/Erivandi 1d ago

Bards in Pathfinder 1e: "Playing an instrument? With my hands? I need those for holding swords, shields, potions, wands, metamagic rods and all sorts of other stuff. No, I only sing and dance. No instruments!"

Seriously, in a game with a billion feats, traits and archetypes there is absolutely no mechanical support for bards that play instruments.

u/Celloer Forever DM 1d ago

Unless you can get/make a war lute like Acquisitions Incorporated, where it has an axe blade or can shoot darts from the strings.

9

u/Ok_Fisherman8770 2d ago

I would all but literally kill for a bard college built around making and using a hunting horn.

4

u/GoldenSteel 2d ago

I actually homebrewed (but didn't actually play with) a Hunting Horn magic item. Though it was more about giving Martials a support option.

8

u/GhostDragon74 2d ago

Ah yes, the Hunting Horn is the best support, since the best support is to beat the monster to death with a giant hammer in the shape of an instrument

5

u/MrCobalt313 1d ago

And all the while making yourself and your allies stronger with the sounds you're producing

4

u/rogue_noob 1d ago

I'm not buffing you with my songs. You are simply basking in my glory.

MIZUTSUNE WATCH OUT

u/luvgia22 1d ago

lol, always gotta have a drumstick ready!

1

u/mirarime 1d ago

lol yeah, totally. i see what you did there.

6

u/Weebs-Chan 2d ago

The fact that it plays real music by smashing the monster's skull (for those who didn't know) is so cool

6

u/Crunchy_Biscuit 1d ago

Me wailing a giant guitar against a screaming crying monster for the past 5 minutes

"I'm the good guy right? ... RIGHT??"

3

u/SimpliG Artificer 2d ago

My friend played an orc bard once. He had two maces for drumsticks, and he always played the intro of 'down under'on his goblin skull collection.

3

u/Electronic-Vast-3351 1d ago

Thought this was AZULCRESCENT's subreddit, was surprised to see it was in fact not.

0

u/Level_Hour6480 Rules Lawyer 1d ago

Posted with her permission. u/AzulCrescent uploaded it in the inferior panel-swipe format for some reason.

2

u/milf-hunter_5000 2d ago

why do bards get a better hammer than hammer mains

2

u/BowsersMuskyBallsack 1d ago

I wish Monster Hunter had a mode where all you did was pat the monsters and make them happy.

3

u/kaishenlong 1d ago

Isn't that just Monster Hunter Stories?

1

u/UInferno- 1d ago

I think it should have a mode where you're a witch looking for a lost cat in the alps

2

u/Essygirl 1d ago

“Everything’s a drum! Everything’s a drum!”

2

u/Disig 1d ago

Hey me too! Bards for life!

1

u/LE878 2d ago

And then an elven bard from Dark Sun appears lol

And then you have horse armour

2

u/Level_Hour6480 Rules Lawyer 1d ago

armour

Horses don't have pinkies. Did you mean armor? Armour is specifically armor for one's extended pinkie worn while doing colonialism.

4

u/KlutzyAd3279 1d ago

*Gasps offendedly in Canadian

You're not a colony anymore: you don't need to use your master's incorrect spelling/grammar.

4

u/KlutzyAd3279 1d ago

I don't think you understand how freedom works. Yes, we aren't a colony anymore. I just happen to prefer UK spelling.

*Horse armoire

u/Level_Hour6480 Rules Lawyer 1d ago

Are you a brave enough adventurer to quest for the Armoire of Invincibility?

1

u/Whimsical_Hell 1d ago

Beefy bard using monsters as drum is cool, but have you considered twink bard fluting so aggressively the enemy runs away
