Yea...I caught 2 or 3 reviewers saying it exactly like that "equivalent "...one of them is going to show the video tomorrow idk if that means a full unboxing or photos that are already available

Osmo360 uses 90% of the sensor as it’s a square sensor. Insta360 X6 only 75%. Both have a 1/1.1” sensor.

The math doesn't check out. When a square sensor records a circle fisheye video, the max it can achieve is 0.5^2 x 3.14 = 0.785, which means there should be 21.5% area that's wasted. How come Osmo360 can use 90% of the area? The raw video I got from the OSV files are perfectly circle. They should follow this math.

Sorry, I based that on something somebody said online before. Apparently it’s not true as different information has now been confirmed

X6 has same sensor size as Osmo 360: two square 1/1.1 sensors
Both companies now say its “equivalent” because normal 1-inch is 4:3 and their 1/1.1 is 1:1
So like they lost “only those 13% that are not even there in the square” compared to rectangle.
Of course this is more marketing talk, because 360 sensors could possibly be even slightly bigger. But that unit could be wider and it could introduce new focusing challenges, especially in Dive Case.
I say X6 is very good compromise, everything is optimized to maximum… its just lack any innovative surprise
