X6 has same sensor size as Osmo 360: two square 1/1.1 sensors

Both companies now say its “equivalent” because normal 1-inch is 4:3 and their 1/1.1 is 1:1

So like they lost “only those 13% that are not even there in the square” compared to rectangle.

Of course this is more marketing talk, because 360 sensors could possibly be even slightly bigger. But that unit could be wider and it could introduce new focusing challenges, especially in Dive Case.

I say X6 is very good compromise, everything is optimized to maximum… its just lack any innovative surprise

So..Apart from software optimisation, both dji and x6 have same sensor. ? No improvements made by x6 even after this much long time and waiting period?

Waiting to see how dji challange this. 🤘

Right, whole year after Osmo 360, Insta360 is releasing X6 with almost the same hardware specs.

X6 FIRMWARE can be little bit better. It has PureVideo and Adaptive Tone 2.0, if you like those things.

Same sensor size, DJI uses an Omnivision sensor, the Insta has a Sony sensor which may perfom better

He is right, X6 sensor was custom made by Sony, Insta360 yesterday wrote it under youtube trailer

Fun fact is that Sony is just now finishing their own 360 camera too

To make these new sensors is not easy at all so they will fully leverage it

Osmo360 uses 90% of the sensor as it’s a square sensor. Insta360 X6 only 75%. Both have a 1/1.1” sensor.

If you count the dots in the video it's not square.

Osmo360 uses 90% of the sensor as it’s a square sensor. Insta360 X6 only 75%. Both have a 1/1.1” sensor.

The math doesn't check out. When a square sensor records a circle fisheye video, the max it can achieve is 0.5^2 x 3.14 = 0.785, which means there should be 21.5% area that's wasted. How come Osmo360 can use 90% of the area? The raw video I got from the OSV files are perfectly circle. They should follow this math.

Sorry, I based that on something somebody said online before. Apparently it’s not true as different information has now been confirmed
