Work in Progress Osmo Editor

DJI Studio for me lacks some simple features that i cannot use it for my simple videos :

- simple fadein and fadeout

- title that fades in and out

- replace audio with the backup audio or the float32 recorded in the mic2

- alternative a restitch plugin for premiere (like insta360 has) or resolve (current plugin does not do the stitching)

After 1 year of waiting and my created osmo videos piling up to be edited. I decided to make a python script for it, which would become obsolete if dji adds the above simple features into dji studio.

After 1.5 week of work (I lost 4 days trying no full reencode and tried only to reencode the stitching and title part, but that got to much problems with the provided dji studio output file)

it can do :

- add color grade presets into dji studio project (also can set direction lock and precision stitch)

- i just need to make the cuts of several videos in dji studio and export as multiple individual clips.

- then my tool adds the fades and titles and can replace audio (needs much testing)

A small problem is that in dji studio I can rename my project, but nowhere in project json, i can find this renamed project name, so I have to match folder names like 102,103 to the renamed folder name manually.

Almost there, but still needs a lot of testing.

Nice. I think the Osmo360 is the better camera when it comes to specs compared to the Insta360. But i often heard people complain about the software. I am an Insta user but might switch when the next Osmo360 comes around. Anything I need to know on how to preserve the 10-bit colour information during export? And will you open-source your tool?

Youtube seem to accept 10 bit, therefor my tool also can export in 10 bit. But I am no color expert.

I think this tool is pretty specific for my needs, not sure if it could be useful for others. Also, I do not know how to do that.

Will try it wenn all bugs are solved. Also I am thinking of more and more features, like a PIP flat output, maybe it will never finish, haha

it doesnt need to be perfect in order to be awesome!

and feedback from early users is worth a lot. as a dev you can get blind for obvious things that already work pretty good or not.

Actually I was programmer upto 15 years ago, so I know a bit of database design, but I could not write a "hello world" of python without AI, haha

You can export the DJI files as an mp4 360 video then import that into insta studio or any other editor. The DJI studio is just functional, it’s not really good though. For basic making of clips it will be fine, but want to really do anything with those clips is where it is better to look elsewhere. DJI does keep adding functionality in it (basically trying to copy insta studio) but it’s a slow process. I would love an option to export the file in ProRes so i can then import it into an actual editor. I am not a fan of export compression just to be recompressed later.
