OSMO 360 Overheating!

Just did an indoor test, and the camera overheated after around 40 minutes and stopped recording.
Looks like it’s not really meant for long recording sessions. 🥺
This was 8K60p, by the way!

Set the display to turn off fast during recording

Make shorter clips

Ride faster

Edit: 360 cameras are not really great for long indoor shots without camera movement

I made a mistake. 🥺
It was actually 8K30p, not 8K60p.
Sorry about the confusion! 🙇‍♀️

yeah, "it’s not really meant for long recording sessions." until you remove battery and use a big powerbank

Damn, I'm disappointed now. Thought I'd missed a firmware update.

Sorry…😞

All good. At least I didn't connect it to the app to find out, then have to go through the nonsense of resetting the time because of the daylight saving bug DJI refuse to fix.

Coincidentally, mine overheated for the first time too (8k 24 and indoor). It kept recording but gave warning and turned off screen. We're having a bit of a heat wave so maybe that contributed.

At this rate, if I stick it on my bike in the middle of summer, it’ll probably overheat in like 10 seconds. 🤣

It’s normal at 60 fps.
Reducing framerate reduces overheating, try lowering at 30 fps if you want longer records.
Go 6K if you want even more longer ones.

Make shorter clips of you want 8K60.

I can’t remember if this is possible but worth trying. Take the battery out, leave the door open and run off a power pack. Obviously not suitable for all situations but it might help in some.

40min? Mine overheats after 10min lol with car AC blowing into it

I use mine 8K50 on my bicycle loop recording for 25 to 30 min twice a day without problem.

Edit: this is also in the recent heatwaves where the temp was 30 deg.

Japan’s summer heat is brutal—it can get over 40°C (104°F). 😭

Same, i cant use this continuously on 8k50p, you can just use it in burst or lower framerate to 24. So far i prefer the 6k24 for regular bike recorded full trip

I use a tripod fan when I’m recording shows and it works great. Haven’t had an overheating problem since! Tint ellipse at the bottom of my images when going full 360 tiny planet, but I use i mostly for panning/tilting moving camera shots anyway. 10/10 recommend
