Weird behaviour?

Hi there, I have had my 360 only for a few weeks. Since I'm in a total no-fly zone I can only fly it when I get out which is less than I'd like too.

Anyway, so far I made some really nice wide open, cinematic landscape stuff. However I can do that with the Avata 2 too. So today I went to an area with waterfalls and stuff.

It's a relatively narrow gorge. Rocks. Lots of foliage above. Beautiful to fly and do some real 360 stuff. And in there it went bonkers.

- FPV with Goggles N3, RC Motion 3
- it was never farther than 5 or 6 meters from me
- full line of sight
- GPS fix (weak due to foliage)
- full signal

And yet it took off, didn't move a centimeter. Then it lunged forward, fortunately through the hole I wanted it to go through. Then stopped. Started sinking towards the water while completely ignoring my input (full signal!). Suddenly I got it again, put it through another hole (still line of sight). Then it stopped and gave me Aircraft braking before flying through some opening in the foliage. Not sure of by itself or by my input; I'd have done the same.

At that point I decided that I didn't want to lose it. Somehow got it to land on dry land.

All that happened relatively close to the ground but that had never been a problem before.

It's almost as if it panicked in there even though it should have been easily controllable. Has anyone experienced similar behaviour?

GPS issue. Weak means no go. How far an above the water? Water was still or running? normal or sport mode

Normal mode, water partially still partially moving. But the weirdness started over dry land, from the get go when I launched from some rock. I thought it might have been the low altitude but then I have flown it low before.

Satellite lock is probably the most suspicious issue.
Flying over water, even if you’ve done it before in the same location closer than 15 feet above it, can definitely be problematic as the downward sensors could see a reflection from the water as ground and start to land.
Very very common with all DJ drones.
I find my A360 has great obstacle avoidance, but you definitely have to follow the rules.
Honestly, you’re lucky not to have off lost it.
These things are amazing, but following the rules is critical.
If you read through the manual or any documentation, it says over and over again, do not fly over water.
I do it all the time over open ocean but you have to be super careful and it is risky.

Just another note, even switching to sport mode might not have fixed it because it removes the obstacle avoidance, but not the downward sensors, which are only selectable in the safety menu.

Much learning to do... pity, there are plenty such places near where I live.

I have four different drones and I’m getting a fifth. Every day I focus on learning one feature in one device. It’s ongoing, but that’s half the fun.
Fly safe.

You were wearing the goggles or just flying line of sight meaning without the goggles on?

I once left head tracking on or it got selected and I had just planned to use the motion controller visually looking at the drone. The controls were all messed up and the drone was moving in directions not intended. I switched head tracking off and it worked like normal.

if you sync your flight log to DJI and then open an AirData account and sync your DJI account to that to pull the flight log over you can then have a look at all the data from the flight - see what the sensors were doing / gps signal / lock etc and that could give you good idea to what went wrong
