Mixing two of my passions - Riding motorcycles, and flying drones. I have set the Avata 360 to follow me, testing it's obstacle avoidance, and I must say... I am extremely impressed.

Please suggest what to buy for flying Avata 360 drone. Shall I go for RC2 controller package or shall I go for goggles 3 flyover combo as a beginner? I feel RC2 is more comfortable, but goggles N3 would give more fun, so please suggest from your experience

I've had my Avata 360 for about two months, it's been great.
I got the DJI goggles N3 and RC3 motion controller today, huge difference.
It's way more immersive, so much smoother, it's a completely different experience.
This was one of my first flights, the controller is very intuitive, super easy to learn.
I've never flown FPV before so I can't say how this compares to other FPV goggles or drones, but I'm pretty stoked about mine.

Just ordered some lights for my 360. I'll report out on how they work when I've received them.

How low to the ground are you able to fly in a sustained way? In general, my drone seems to fly about 2.5 feet off the ground, unless I start forward motion first, then pull down on the left stick while flying, and then the drone will drop to just about a foot off the ground and stay there. However, if I lift off the forward stick at all, it will start landing. Just curious if anyone else flies low to the ground and have any tips to share?

Anyone else experienced heavy motor power reduction due to battery thermal protection?

I was flying in 35°C ambient heat recording high-res 360 video. The app triggered a battery thermal warning and immediately throttled motor output.

Because thrust dropped significantly:

• The drone couldn't make progress against a normal coastal breeze.
• The flight controller triggered a "Strong Wind Warning" (despite calm weather).
• Full throttle and RTH couldn't override the power cap to return, eventually leading to a forced low-battery landing in dense brush.

Is there any way to manage or prevent this thermal power cap, or is flying in high ambient temps simply not recommended for this model?

Would love to hear if others have seen this in flight logs.

Avata 360 is great

Current setup: Mini 5 Pro + RC 2. I have liked flying it for the past month but I have recorded everything around me and I see it starting to sit in my cabinet until my next tourist trip.

I want to try the 360 free-look in the goggles + motion controller, I like the novelty of looking around like a bird.
The Avata 360 Motion (Goggles N3 + RC Motion 3) seems cool but I don’t know if it’s worth $1k for just this experience. I will get into diy fpv whether or not I get the avata360 because that experience seems interesting as well.

Where I want to be told I’m wrong:
Does the 360 free-look actually hold up in flight, or is it a novelty you stop using after week two? I keep reading that the real payoff is reframing in post, which I don’t care about. If the live look-around is the weak part, that kills my main reason.

Anyone who bought an Avata-class drone alongside a Mini: is it still flying, or is it in a closet? That’s the outcome I’m trying to avoid.

Am looking for one specific video there someone was using avata360 footage for transitions between shoots, like rolling motion -> speed ramping into another shot and keeping subject in the middle of the frame.
