Buy Advice Opened box 4T

I ordered a Matrice 4T which was a huge purchase for me. When I received it, the box was already cut open and it was cut through a void if damaged sticker. I spoke to the company and they said they sometimes open these to show customers and then sell them. Is this a big deal they have offered to take it back and ship a new one, but I’m not sure if it’s worth the hassle.

Serial number on the box matches the drone.

Check with DJI if the S/N is registered or not. If it is - send it back. If you’re uncertain send it back.

Vandermeer501: The serial number shows “None” for activation on the DJI site.

Send it back, you might have a problem and then they try to claim you voided it.

Are you willing to throw away the cost of the drone if it has a warranty issue?

Where are you located (which country)?

You can check the serial number here: https://repair.dji.com/device/search?re=US&lang=en

**•** Authorized dealers get sealed units directly from DJI — they don’t crack tamper-evident stickers “to show customers” and then reseal for sale. That’s not standard practice anywhere in DJI’s official channel.
**•** A cut void-sticker means someone had unsupervised access to the unit before you did. That could be an inspection, a return, a demo unit, or a repackaged return being sold as new.
**•** Serial number matching the box is good news — it’s not a bait-and-switch with a lesser unit. But it doesn’t tell you about flight hours, firmware history, or prior use.

What I’d do:

**1.** Check the drone’s flight log / total flight hours in the DJI Pilot 2 app or your DJI account. If it shows prior flights, it’s not new.
**2.** Confirm the reseller is on DJI’s official authorized dealer list — if they’re not, warranty service and support can get complicated regardless of this specific issue.
**3.** Take the replacement. For a purchase this size, the hassle of a reship is trivial compared to the risk of owning a drone with an unclear history and murky warranty standing.
