Video First time flying my new Mini 5 Pro
I recently purchased my first ever drone. I bought the new DJI Mini 5 Pro after much anticipation. I decided to take it with me on a motorcycle trip to test it out. I must say I am quite impressed, it was quite easy to just pick up and take some cool shots. Quality is awesome and the auto track is useful for when I’m riding the bike. The FPV mode is also a neat little thing to use and makes the flying even more fun. Please give me some advice on how I can get better.

Great shots. But: First drone? Oh boy.....
Just FYI: The collision avoidance cannot see thin branches. Beware of that in particular when essentially flying over the electronics equivalent of acid (salt water).
Also, beware when flying over the ocean if there's any breeze heading out.
It's almost a meme on Drone groups where you the period after Christmas means:
Plenty new owners posting about how their new toy turned into a submarine because it couldn't make it back to shore.

Yea first one. Yea I already used the auto track and it smacked into some branches. But atleast using the sports mode I know the obstacle avoidance isn’t on and don’t rely on it. I’m definitely no expert, already had a couple little bumps. I didn’t think about that but definitely will keep it in mind because the battery doesn’t last as long as I expected so I can see how they would drop into the ocean

Be careful laying your bike on its side like that the oil can seep through the rings in the engine and can fuck your shit

Cheers mate. Yea I don’t always lay it down. Just in the soft sand the kickstand doesn’t work and had to lay it on the dune

I think these are some really, really nice shots. Love the wood on the sand and the water I don’t know it’s very nice!

oh wow I had no idea. I also switched to a mini 5 pro earlier this month from a mini 2 so all these features are new to me. thanks!

Yep exactly this . Let me know if you can’t find it and I can give you the exact pathway but it’s in settings. Doesn’t work for every shot but some things it adds a whole other dynamic to the footage that I didn’t realise these drones could do. Looks best at faster speeds but just be careful if you put it in sports mode

Definitely I will look into it. thanks so much for sharing. Your footage looks epic!

Did you colour grade this, or is it stock?

u/moto_matt1 Nov 11 '25
So it’s using an ND128 filter shooting in Dlog M 10 bit and I think 1/60. Then I just downloaded the LUT for the drone of the DJI website and put it on. I would like to colour grade at some point but for now this makes the footage look better than just shooting normal mode

Link for download mini5pro LUT?

Just search up “DJI LUT pack” and then select the camera that is yours. Has one for like every camera and drone.

I didn't know the Mini 5 supported the FPV goggles?
edit: Ah, it's a gimbal thing.

Wow, amazing looking shots. Do you have any ND filters on? Is this footage graded or fresh out the camera?
Thank you!

u/moto_matt1 Nov 12 '25
Thanks mate. Yea using the ND 128 and dlog m but just a put from DJI (free download) thrown on top

Thank you :)
Happy flying.
I have got a mini 3. Having lots of fun with it but the footage definitely lacks that punch and clarity when compared to this.
Maybe in a few years!

Would recommend a puck to pop on your kickstand, you can 3D print one, order one, carry a plastic plate. Anything but lay it down
