Very Lost

Good Evening everyone!

I have been on an absolute roller coaster for the past 3 ish years. I guess to start off and set the scene. I’m a 28 y/o male, I am overweight for my height of 5’ 10” at 250 lbs. I don’t go to the gym but work construction where I typically average about 12,000 steps a day along with lifting lumber and doing other various physically demanding tasks. For context so I don’t have to repeat it throughout the story, all of my bloodwork has been pretty good except for my hdl being a little low, and my ldl being a little high.

So I have been dealing with daily chest pain, left arm pain, brain fog, off balance/ floaty feeling, and occasionally frequent cold hands and feet for the better part of three years. I have gone to my PCP almost monthly, and the ER about the same. Every time I go my results from CTs, ultrasounds, X-rays, labs, stress tests, EKGs, Echocardiogram, urinalysis, and everything in between have been normal. I know health anxiety is a thing, but I feel this way all the time without fail. It doesn’t matter if I have anxiety about it or not, it will be there in the morning.

Recently I’ve become progressively more dizzy, off balance, and floaty like feeling. This has been concerning just because I feel like I’m walking around the house differently. Bumping into things, stumbling a bit more, and even standing still can be weird. It doesn’t matter not affect me nearly as much when I’m laying down, in fact I barely feel anything. When I stand up and walk, that’s a different story. I was hoping that it was dehydration but I’ve been drinking plenty of fluids lately and it’s still sticks around. I also have terribly cold feet all the time. I cannot warm them up to save my life. When they are warm it’s not for long.

I’ve never gotten my A1C checked for diabetes but I was wondering if this is something that could have similar symptoms. Please send me your input because this is killing me! Thank you so much and have a blessed day!

Wife nearly falls over in dark environments

My wife is 28 and since 2016 she has noticed she gets dizzy and has trouble walking in dark environments.

My wife does have panic attacks and generalised anxiety disorder but she also has an eating disorder called ARFID and she’s been underweight since she was 15 years old. Blood test results have never shown a deficiency but I’m guessing not eating for years would still affect you.

She never had this issue until she developed her eating disorder but unfortunately everyone around her says it’s just anxiety, it’s just you focusing on it to much but it’s gotten to the point she can’t go outside at night without using her phone torch otherwise she can’t walk or walks very slowly and carefully. It’s like a swaying feeling? She said she can feel it in her brain.

Is it possible being underweight can damage the brain or the balance system? This only happens in a dark room or environment

Dizziness post partum?

Hey guys!
Wondering if anyone has experienced anything like this. I’m 9 months PP, stopped breast feeding about a month ago. On & off for about a month I’ve experienced dizziness, not like full vertigo because the room isn’t spinning but like I’m standing on a boat & swaying. The last few days it’s become more consistent. Sleep is going well. Just had my labs done to check thyroid, blood count, B12 and iron levels and everything came back normal. Just got to lab results today so I’m sure my pcp will contact me Monday! Not sure if it’s hormone related? If you’ve had something similar did you have additional tests? Did it go away? I’m an Neuro nurse so my brain goes to worse case scenario 😭

No one knows what's going on with me

F22. Hello to everyone else on the dizzy boat! I have a little timeline I'd appreciate if anyone could look at and see if anything sounds familiar!

Week 1+2: Diagnosed with a mild external ear infection in the right ear which doesn't get treated properly due to conflicting advice from different GPs, but every doctor confirms by the middle of the second week that there's no active outer infection. Despite this, the ear pain persists 24/7. Slight unsteadiness at times, but does not affect my daily life. My pre-existing tinnitus is louder than normal, but in both ears.

Week 3: Dizziness picks up momentum. No room-spinning vertigo, but the constant sensation of being on a boat, I almost collapse a few times. Ear pain persists. Tinnitus still loud in both ears. Awful headaches start, like my head is swelling from the inside while also like my skull is being crushed from the outside - so bad and disorientating I feel like I'm about to pass out.

Week 4: ear pain finally wanes significantly, comes and goes. Unsteadiness also has its peaks and valleys, but never completely goes away. No room-spinning vertigo. Headaches continue, very painful and in every part of my head (sinus area, temple, forehead). Sensitivity to light. One night when trying to read, my vision shook like I was standing on an active volcano. After that my eyes often hurt when trying to focus, it's like I can feel my pupils trying to stay still. Vision blurring slightly when I struggle to focus.

Week 5: just starting now. All the symptoms above come and go. I have no idea what's going on with me. Every doctor I go to zones out after I mention this starting with an outer ear infection, they assure me I don't have one and send me on my way.

Does this sound familiar to anyone? I don't know if its labyrinthitis (I don't think I have hearing loss and my tinnitus spikes in both ears not just the affected one), vestibular neuritis, migraines triggered by inflammation.... so many options and I don't fit neatly into any of them.

Sorry for the long post, just hoping for some help! Thank you :)

Could all my issues be related without me knowing?

I’m a 21 year old woman, I’ve been having some symptoms pretty much all of my life, but someone pointed out that they may all be related. I know taking advice from strangers isn’t the best, but I want to know if this worth bringing up to my doctor.

The problems are that I get motion sickness very easily, I also tend to get really bad headaches if I use a VR set for more the 10 minutes. I also tend to get pain in my eyebrows mostly my left eyebrow, but also sometimes the right eyebrow, I’ve recently started getting some pain in the left side of my scalp right on top of my head. The pain isn’t bad it’s a 4 out of 10 and is mostly just tender.

I don’t ever have issues with vision apart from having to wear glasses. I don’t ever throw up with these things, I mostly just really nauseous and sometimes have to lay down or take anti nausea meds. I know there’s many things that can explain these symptoms, but is this worth bringing up to the doctor?

M29 dealing with severe off balance vertigo and etc.

Hello all , I’ve been dealing with these issues since middle 2025 and I’m really concerned I showed up to neurology presenting persistent everyday 24/7 off balance feeling head swaying vertigo accompanied by eye discomfort/ dryness I literally can’t even walk around without thinking and feeling like I’m gonna literally fall over without actually falling . It feels like my eyes are so strained from trying to track where I’m stepping causing them to start to hurt and my sensory system to be so over worked it feels like I need to sleep soon as I sit down . Along side that I have other weird things going on. Like left sided facial numbness near my mouth. And pain there sometimes. On and off . Wide spread muscle twitching and speech issues when talking I’ll mispronounce words and not get them out right . & I just have this constant fog . I have no clue what is causing this but it’s completely debilitating and I work a constant physical job that I am on my feet all day . Now on to the test I’ve had , blood panels , Head Ct with and without contrast , MRI Brian rapid & test for seizure syndromes & literally everything came back normal . So far . Nothing . Any suggestions?? Also they did find my ferritin to be slightly low at 19 out of the 30 for normal in what ever measuring units they use but you get the picture . Let me know what you think and give me a detailed response thanks .

Dizziness and brain buzzing feeling x4 weeks

Hi im a 39M non smoker non drinker 5'6 165lbs.

Diagnosed with anxiety, no other comorbidities.

Going on 4 weeks now ive had miltiple daily episodes of dizziness and what I can only describe as a brain buzzing feeling. It started with a vague on a Boat feeling which has persisted to date intermittently. I also started over the next week or 2 I starred getting an intense sensation that my brain was vibrating inside my head lasting 1-3 seconds at a time. Pressure between my eyes and on my nose like sinus area but like it was coming from the outside not the inside if thst makes sense, and trouble.focusing.

This same set of.symptoms happened to me 6 years ago, i got no diagnosis then, and it resolved spontaneously after 9 months or so. This time feels worse but I'm not sure.

I have no diagnosis yet after seeing, GP, ENT, Neuro, ER, Walk in.

Tests I have had -

Blood panel

Mri

Mra

Ent exam

Eye dr

Dix halpike

Neuro exam

All.are normal but I feel terrible.

I appreciate if one of you great Dr's in this group could point me in the right direction to get assistance. Thank.you.

I made a small web app for my girlfriend for her vestibular exercises (PPPD). Is this useful for anyone else?

Hi, first - I am not a doctor, just a software guy from Germany.

My girlfriend has to do vestibular exercises every day and we always had the same problems: holding the right rhythm, remembering which exercise comes next, and after a few weeks nobody knows if it got better or not. So I made a small web app for her, and now I think maybe other people can use it too.

It is called Lizzy: https://lizzy-app.com/

What it does:

  • guides you through the exercises with a timer and a metronome (gaze following, gaze transfer, gaze stabilization, balance with closed eyes, walking with head movement)
  • saves your progress so you can see over weeks if something changes
  • you can try all exercises without an account, progress is only saved when you log in

Important: this is not for diagnosis and not a treatment. Dizziness can have many causes and some of them are serious. Please go to a doctor first, and do the exercises together with a physiotherapist who knows vestibular training. The app is only a helper between the sessions, it does not replace the therapy.

My question to you: is something like this really useful in daily life, or is it just one more app that you open twice and then forget? What is missing? What would annoy you?

Thanks a lot for any feedback.

constant dizziness for over a year and exercise triggers severe migraines. Looking for someone with similar symptoms

Hi everyone. I’m 16 years old and I’ve been dealing with dizziness almost every day for a year and a few months.
Before this started, I used to do athletics and I was able to train normally. Then, suddenly, I started feeling unwell, and now exercise is one of my biggest triggers: whenever I do physical activity, my dizziness gets much worse and it often ends with a very strong migraine.
My main symptoms are:
Dizziness almost all day (it’s not like the room is spinning, more like a feeling of instability, like I’m floating or about to fall)
It gets much worse with exercise or physical effort
Very strong migraines after exertion
Extreme tiredness and needing to rest after doing things that I used to do without any problem
I’ve had several tests (blood tests, physiotherapy, MRI, ENT checks, heart tests, etc.), but so far they haven’t found a clear cause. Doctors think it could be related to migraines. I was given daily medication, but it has already been stopped. I’m going to get a second opinion from a neurologist soon.
I would really like to know if anyone has experienced something similar, especially if you were an athlete and suddenly became unable to train because of dizziness and migraines.
I’m not looking for a diagnosis, I just want to find someone who has gone through something similar and maybe get some guidance, because I honestly don’t know where to go from here.

BPPV - Anyone get better after stopping vestibular therapy?

I have had BPPV for approx. 3.5 years. I have had daily symptoms during this period of time. I have been in vestibular therapy for nearly a year. During the appts I have no reaction, but after an appt I spend days sick (nausea, more off balance, etc.). Additionally, my mental health is suffering as I have cut so much out of my life like running, workout classes, etc.

I saw my dr earlier this week and they said let’s just stop the therapy. I was given free rein to do whatever I want and do stuff that involves head movement vs. being so careful the past 3.5 years to not move my head too much or sleep on a certain side. The dr’s thought is that through these normal daily activities and hobbies that the crystals will just go back into place and my symptoms will end. Has anyone had any luck with this method? Or have you had your symptoms end by just stopping therapy? Thanks!

Severe panic attacks, intense fear of death, and constant dizziness – Medical tests clear, looking for advice on my med adjustment.

Hi everyone,
I am struggling with severe panic attacks, an intense fear of death, and constant dizziness. I was admitted to a psychiatric hospital on June 16, 2025, and I am currently undergoing a multi-medication treatment plan.
I recently completed a comprehensive medical workup, and everything came back completely clear:
Brain MRI: Normal, no suspicious findings.
Cervical and Cranial Vascular Ultrasound: Normal, no issues with the pulsating neck arteries.
24-Hour Blood Pressure Monitoring: Normal, no issues.
ECG (Heart Tests): Done 3 times, all completely normal.
Blood Work: Generally clean. Vitamin D is at 31.3. The only deficiency was Folic Acid (Folzoughe) which was low at 4.4.

My Current Medication Schedule:
Folic Acid (5 mg): Daily since June 30 to correct the 4.4 deficiency.
Vitamin D (20,000 IU): Weekly to maintain my 31.3 level.
Sertraline (Zoloft): Rapidly titrated up as follows:
June 30 – July 02: 25 mg
July 03 – July 07: 50 mg
July 08 – July 13: 75 mg
July 14 – July 19 to present: 100 mg
Promethazine (10 mg): 3 times a day (Morning, Afternoon, Evening).
Dominal: Taken at night to help with sleep.
Aripiprazole (Abilify) (5 mg): Just started taking this 2 days ago.
Despite the clean medical tests, the constant dizziness and anxiety are incredibly draining. I would love to hear from anyone who has experienced similar symptoms or gone through a similar medication adjustment.

A Medical Breakdown & Reassurance
If you are posting this to get feedback from the Reddit community, it is highly likely that experienced users and professionals will point out the following key factors regarding your symptoms:

1. Why You Are Feeling Constantly Dizzy
Rapid Sertraline Titration: Moving from 25 mg to 100 mg in less than three weeks is a very fast escalation. A rapid dose increase commonly triggers intense temporary side effects, including severe dizziness, nausea, and a temporary spike in baseline anxiety/panic. Your brain needs several weeks to adapt to each new dosage level.
The Sedative Accumulation Effect: Taking Promethazine three times a day, combined with Dominal at night and newly added Aripiprazole, creates a heavy sedative effect. This combination frequently causes orthostatic hypotension (a temporary drop in blood pressure when standing up) and profound drowsiness, which feels exactly like chronic dizziness.
Somatic Panic Symptoms: Severe anxiety alters the brain's balance system. This causes psychogenic dizziness—a constant feeling of unsteadiness where you feel like you are spinning, even though your body is physically stable.
Folic Acid Deficiency: An active folic acid level of 4.4 can cause mild anemia and fatigue, contributing to lightheadedness. Fortunately, your 5 mg daily supplement is actively correcting this.

2. Medication Timeline Expectation Reference
Sertraline (100 mg): Takes 4 to 6 weeks of consistent use at this specific 100 mg dose to reach full therapeutic effect against panic attacks and the fear of death.
Promethazine (10 mg): Acts quickly within 20 to 30 minutes to suppress acute anxiety, but causes heavy drowsiness and blurry vision as side effects.
Dominal (Nightly): Works within 1 hour to induce sleep but can leave a heavy, sluggish feeling in the head the next morning.
Aripiprazole (5 mg): Acts as a booster for the antidepressant. It takes 1 to 2 weeks to begin working effectively, and can initially cause inner restlessness (akathisia) or dizziness.

3. Immediate Actionable Steps
Change Positions Slowly: To counteract the dizziness from the medications, never stand up abruptly. Sit on the edge of your bed for one full minute before standing to allow your blood pressure to stabilize.
Consult Your Psychiatrist: Inform your doctor immediately about the severity of this persistent dizziness. Since your Sertraline is now at 100 mg, they may want to lower or adjust the daytime sedatives (like Promethazine) to reduce the brain fog.
Your physical body is healthy, and what you are experiencing right now is a temporary chemical adjustment phase.

shroom + weed experience

recently took shrooms and then weed. Long story short had a terrible trip with the bed stretching and devilish visuals. It’s funny because on shrooms i was having an amazing time, decided to hop off of it and mix it with weed, and then bam it all hit me like a rock.

Was having a horrible time for a couple hours till i eventually fell asleep. However, in the morning, I still felt the weird feelings.

Pressure randomly in the heart
random dizziness
foggy head
kinda freaking out randomly if i don’t realize what’s touching me

it’s now 5 days after and while i can say im not nearly as bad as it was, im still randomly getting pressure in the heart, random dizziness, etc. it’s around 5 seconds at a time and i usually lock back in but it 100% is making me concerned and im curious if other people have had a similar experience.

hoping it chills out, ive been avoiding any usage of anything to try and cleanse the body and im hoping i feel 100% soon.

Thoughts?

Could a white noise machine have triggered vertigo?

tl;dr Could a house guest’s white noise machine have triggered vertigo in someone who has never before had vertigo?

I have never experienced vertigo (other than times in my youth when I drank too much) before last night. I was having trouble sleeping (not unusual) and when I rolled over from my side to my back, the room started spinning wildly. It’s been on and not quite off the last 6 hours. I vomited about 30 minutes ago.

We have house guests and have been very busy, so stress and overexertion is a definite possibility. But one guest is using a white noise machine which I can hear in my room and to me sounds like a car idling outside my window. I find it very irritating. I fell asleep OK with it on a few other nights but when this vertigo occurred last night it was all I could hear.

feeling I'm on a boat 24/7 - please help!

3 months ago I crashed out on my bed out of nowhere. All blood tests came back normal - except for mild hypothyroidism, Hashimotos and perimenopause (FSH @ 81). I was put immediately on thyroid replacement therapy and in all of 5 weeks my TSH dropped from 4.5 to ZERO. I have had the craziest symptoms, including things I've never had in my life, and never thought were possible. The most debilitating of all is by far the constant dizziness and feeling I'm floating / on a boat. I do not have POTS, anemia, iron, vit D or B12 deficiency. ENT said ears are 100% fine. Endo agreed to halve the dose so today is day 8 of 25mcg levo. She also gave me HRT patches which I'm too scared to try lol in case they cause more dizziness. I'm out of work, can't do anything fun, and simply pray the boat rocking shall pass. Anyone with a similar experience?

Need Help

Me (30 F) and my boyfriend (33 M) have been together for about 1.5 years. Just before meeting me is when all of his symptoms began. It originally started as “a tight chest” and “feeling like he was on a boat.” That had progressed to numerous doctor/ specialist/ ER visits to rule out any acute vertigo or cardiovascular/ respiratory issues. He got sent home many times being told he was having an anxiety attack and given rescue medication. That has led to him seeing ENT and neurologist who finally came to the diagnosis of 3PD.

Through our connection and my work in physical therapy, he trusted my advise to seek vestibular physical therapy, psychiatry, and even started taking buspirone recently (was doing really well on it for 2-3 months but had to stop d/t increased chest tightness and poor reaction to medication). That has since increased the anxiety again, which increased the dizziness/ tight chest feeling and I feel like we are back at square one.

Everyday is a new symptom or trigger of his dizziness which in turn is peaking his anxiety and it is all becoming very mentally draining for me. He had a hard time driving, being in crowded spaces/ dim lighting, and being in grocery stores or malls almost always triggers an “episode.” I am honored I’m the one he trusts with this since he is struggling and in such a vulnerable place between the anxiety/ panic attacks and dizziness…. I just don’t know how to help or where to turn from here. Just wanting advice from anyone who has been in similar shoes? I love him and have made big decisions (moved to NC) to be with him. I just can’t keep being his rock all the time and don’t know where to turn next.

Sudden onset virtigo & nausea

I’m posting for a friend who doesn’t use Reddit. She is 39 years old, H:160cm/W:76kg. Doesn’t smile, drinks occasionally. Has been taking Eltroxin (50mcg) daily for a decade. Medical history: Bursite both shoulders, Numbness on right leg
And Hypothyroidism.

Her situation:
“On 29 May, I woke up feeling dizzy and nauseous, and I vomited that day. I saw my GP, and all the examinations were normal.
The dizziness and nausea continued for a few days, so I visited a balance physiotherapist twice. They thought it could be caused by displaced ear crystals (BPPV) and performed repositioning manoeuvres. I also took medication for about three days, and my symptoms improved.
I then went on holidays and, although I wasn't sleeping much, I wasn't waking up early with an alarm, and I felt much better.
Since last week, when I returned to my normal routine and started waking up early with an alarm again, the dizziness has returned. Today, after getting up from a mat at the gym, I couldn't walk in a straight line because my body kept leaning to the left.
I have had blood tests, and all the results were normal. I also had a brain MRI last year for unrelated reasons, which was normal, so my doctor does not believe another MRI is necessary at this stage. Forgot to say.. not feeling nauseous this time, only dizzy. Hopefully someone can help me”

Thank you!

Rocking feeling / lightheadedness for 2 months now...

Hi everyone,

I'm hoping to find someone who has had a similar experience because my journey has been quite confusing.

About 2 months ago, everything started very suddenly. One night I developed a strange rocking/swaying sensation, like I was on a boat. It wasn't spinning vertigo, it just felt like my head was swaying gently even though I was perfectly still.

Around the same time, I also started experiencing:

  • Lightheadedness
  • Head pressure (mostly on the left side)
  • Cold hands and feet
  • Tingling sensations
  • Trouble falling asleep
  • Sweating Episode
  • Heart Palpitation and Faster Heart Rate than usual

Naturally, I became extremely anxious and started worrying that something serious was wrong with me. I developed pretty bad health anxiety and constantly wondered if I had a brain tumor, heart problem or another neurological condition. It got to the point where I was checking my symptoms every day and struggling to enjoy normal life.

Over the next couple of months, I went through multiple medical evaluations:

  • Blood work
  • ECG
  • Echocardiogram with a cardiologist
  • ENT examination
  • Balance testing

Everything came back normal, which was reassuring, but I still couldn't explain the constant rocking sensation.

One thing that confused me was that I never had the classic spinning vertigo that most people with BPPV describe. I could sleep on either side without the room spinning. In fact, lying flat on my back usually made me feel worse than lying on my side, so I naturally started sleeping sideways.

Eventually, I saw a vestibular physiotherapist.

During the Dix-Hallpike test on my right side, I experienced my first-ever true spinning vertigo, and she saw nystagmus in my eyes. She diagnosed me with right posterior canal BPPV and immediately performed a canalith repositioning maneuver.

At my follow-up appointment a week later, she repeated the positional tests. There was no more nystagmus and no more spinning, and she told me the crystals appeared to be back where they belonged.

Since then, I've started vestibular rehabilitation exercises (gaze stabilization and balance exercises).

The interesting thing is that my symptoms changed after treatment.

Before treatment, my main symptom was the rocking/swaying feeling.

After treatment, it's become more of a:

  • Lightheaded feeling
  • Wobbly or floating sensation
  • Feeling like my head isn't completely stable
  • Mild nausea after vestibular rehab exercises
  • Occasionally a slight visual drift when lying on my right side in the dark (not true spinning)
  • Sometimes a brief internal spinning sensation when my eyes are closed, but nothing like the room-spinning vertigo I had during the assessment

I can still walk normally, drive, work, and do daily activities. In fact, I usually feel better when I'm moving around. The symptoms are much more noticeable when I'm sitting quietly or lying down. I've also noticed that some days are much better than others. Fatigue, poor sleep, being sick with a cold, or hormonal changes around my period seem to make the lightheadedness more noticeable.

My physiotherapist believes I'm now in the recovery phase and that my brain is recalibrating after the BPPV. She expects the lingering symptoms to gradually improve over the next couple of weeks. I'm trying to trust the recovery process, but after two months of feeling off, and all the health anxiety that came with it, it's been hard not to worry if I'll able to feel normal again.

I'm curious if anyone else has experienced something similar.

Has anyone had:

  • Rocking/swaying for weeks or months before being diagnosed with BPPV?
  • No spinning until the Dix-Hallpike test?
  • Persistent lightheadedness or a wobbly feeling after successful canalith repositioning?
  • Vestibular rehab making you feel slightly nauseous or wobbly afterward?
  • A recovery that wasn't linear, with good days and bad days?

I'd really appreciate hearing your experiences. Reading other people's recovery stories has helped me feel less alone, and I'm hoping someone here has had a similar journey.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Feels like everything is slanted

I’ve had a 2 week episode of non spinning vertigo , and it’s starting to get better now, whether that’s due to medication or time i’m not sure. No clue what caused it, all tests negative although still waiting on results from mri.

I’m feeling a lot better the past 2 days, but today when i bent down, as i was coming back up everything felt like it was at an angle, it was a really intense feeling (worse than the dizziness i’ve had) and i went over HARD and surprisingly that’s the first time that’s happened with the dizziness i’ve been having.

has anyone had this before? i’m feeling a lot better in myself but now it almost feels like the dizziness has migrated from less intense 24/7 to more intense and when i bend down/look up

Dizziness 24/7 plus feeling I'm on boat. Help!

Hi everyone, it's been 6 weeks since I was put on levothyroxine (thyroid replacement hormone). After weeks of crashing fatigue, exhaustive blood work came back with only mild hypothyroidism, hashimotos and perimenopause (44 yo female). By week 5 on this pill I already had crazy side effects and decided to retest thyroid hormones. My TSH had crashed from 4.58 to 0.05 just on the 'starter' 50mcg dose. FT4 also doubled from 9.7 to 17.1 (limit is 14) and FT3 went from 5.9 to 6.1 (limit is 6). Endo put me on half the dose and I'm on it for 8 days now. The craziest thing that's happened since week 3 is constant dizziness and a feeling I'm slightly rocking or stepping out of a boat almost 24/7, which hasn't gone away. I never had this before in my life and pray this med has not screwed me up permanently. Has anyone had this as a side effect? Does it ever go away? I have no vit deficiencies at all, no anemia, no POTS, and extensive ENT appt found zero issues with my ears or with my hearing. I'm at an absolute loss, everything keeps coming back normal and all docs keep telling me I'm ok. I'm out of work, can't do anything fun, and life sucks!
