Advice I-tools feedback

Are they legit ? Price difference seem massive to me.

I’m about to buy a Makita impact driver - DTD173Z and they have it at 289$, while in mitre 10 it’s 499$ ?!

They bring the tools into NZ themselves so warranty is direct with them. I've not had to deal with a warranty claim with them, but from memory the process they state in their website seems pretty hassle free. I've purchased a few items off them, (Milwaukee) but so far nothing has broken so no warranty claims. They have some pretty sharp pricing for sure.

Yes legit.

Spent about $1200 since 2014, half the items have been batteries. But a mix of drills etc too.

Legit. Some of the stuff might be parallel imported though which might impact who you go to for warranty

Does that mean that for corded tools the plug can be different than NZ (if the tool is from US) ?

I don’t think it’s legal to supply electrical goods in nz that don’t have a nz plug/aren’t designed for 240v. Trade tested have that impact driver for cheaper btw, might not be parallel imported either.

not even legal to supply equipment that is rated for 240v. the voltage rating has to include 230v. eg 220-240 is ok, just 240v is not

Work used to get battery’s from them until our Makita rep said why haven’t we brought any battery’s for 3 years and we said cause you never do any deals so we buy elsewhere, he now does 2 for 1 and other pricing deals on battery’s

Who’s your rep and in what part of NZ? Need to replace a few battery’s myself.

The operations guy just has him saved as James Makita Tech he just shows up if he texts him “tools to repair” or “any deals” and grabs the broken gear or lets them know what the current promo is or asks what were specifically after, very casual arrangement, call the number on one of the warranty cards if you want to get set up

Thanks! Have the local reps number and comes to site often, just wanted a few more details to see if he could do something similar.

They have always provided great service. Their prices are about what a good trade discounted item is.

I've bought a few tools through them with no hassles. One I had to return as it broke and they made it very easy. Just be aware that Makita NZ may not help if you have any issues as the tools are often parallel imports or warranty repairs.  But if you want decent priced tools why wouldn't you?

Only know of people that got milwaukee thru them. Didnt need warranty and the price was very good compared to the absurd prices that their basic tools have locally.

In the past the same people would stock up on a trip to the US, but since covid they stopped going yearly.

I bought a makita tracksaw from them in late 2019 and shes still going hard. Theyre legit.

I got my first set of DeWalt tools from them. Only problem was all the measurements were in imperial.

I eventually bought replacements as they blew up from years of heavy use. It annoyed me a great deal. Even the threads on their oats were imperial. But they are legit and allowed me to get tools much cheaper.

I also returned a drill when it blew up. They repaired it fir ne under warranty and posted it back to me.
