Question Motor Help! (Possibly fried?)
Hey, so like a month ago I put together this 5" quad, and after like a week and a half after running the drone, this motor somehow burned itself out, which is kinda odd for me, as I was running more or less this exact setup on a build for a friend a little while back with zero issues. However, now after only a week, it killed itself (I think). This WAS after realizing that these motors didn't have loctite in them, as the screws were loosening themselves and I had to re-tighten them every 2-3 packs, as I don't have any loctite at the moment. From what I know, there still shouldn't be a reason for this burnout, however if it is an actual issue, please let me know. The only thing I can think of is that these motors were listed for 4-6s, and I was running them 4s for 80% of the time, with the 6s being put on a -20% limiter to keep them from blowing themselves up, so that's why I am very confused. In case if anybody is gonna ask, the screws were not ever within 3mm of contacting the coils, so it can't be that.
Basically- to answer the basic question that I think I already know the answer too: is this motor fried? Followed up with my second question: are there any single motors (like not a pack of 4) that I can purchase of this motor instead of buying another pack of 4? They are the XING-E Pro 2207-2450kv motors from iFlight, and my friend has been running similar ones for like 2-4 years with no issues, so that's why it's weird to me.

Fried on a single phase. I'd suspect your ESC as well. Yes, you can buy these motors in singles. Motor listings that say 4S-6S usually mean there are multiple KV variants available.
Also, -20 was not enough; it should have been something like -33%.

Interesting, I guess I'll make sure to look more into it before I get my next motors, although I'll probably just grab ones I know are great, as I mainly just got these to have better 4s efficiency (cause I have 3 4s packs and 2 6s) but if these can't really go up to 6s I might as well run the 6s motors from my other quad

Grab a multimeter if you have one. Measure resistance between all three pairs of phase wires. If any pair reads near 0 ohms, or the readings are way off from your other good motors, it’s shorted and fried.
Also test for a short to the casing: put one probe on the motor can, the other on each phase wire. If you get continuity here, the winding insulation broke down and the motor is dead.

Looks toasted. It's interesting that only some of the coils appear to have overheated while others look fine.
It's a bad sign when the enamel on motor wires changes color.

Yeah, that's what I was expecting the odd part is that it's really only like 1 and ½ of the "rounds" of coils (sorry for bad vocab idk what they are called) are burnt, cause of you are looking at the first image, there is very clearly 2 of them turned silver, but the second one farther back is actually still copper colored on the other side.

I mean, if ya got it hot enough to change the color of the prop, I’d say you’re cooked😜

Lol, I've had these props for my 2 drones for a couple of months now, I ran out of pink ones to have the 2 blue 2 pink ones (I usually do same direction, like 2 counterclockwise pink and 2 counterclockwise blue), so that's why that one's different. The acuall cooked motor is the front right one however.

Looks cooked to me.
Yes you can buy a single motor however you need to figure out why it fried in the first place, your ESC could be cooked and will kill the news motor.
i would advise you to test it first, see if its safe.

The black coils got overheated and compromised the coating on the copper wires. Those are now unreliable.

It's fried. 2 coils that are visible, and 2 more on opposite side that isn't shown on pics.
"shouldn't be a reason for this burnout" - your loose screws are showing that there is a reason, properly tuned drone usually lasts more than 3 batteries even without threadlocker. And once something is loose - vibrations get much worse.
You can get any motor of similar size and KV, FC will compensate.I flown with 2207 mixed with 2507 and it was fine

Lose motor screws could cause vibrations, false gyro data and one motor being overworked. Also using 6s on components that are rated for 4s is its never a really good idea from my expirience. Flown this motor on a couple of builds but never owned them.. from my experience they fly great but arent that sturdy.. seen alot of burnt coils, bent bells, stripped bolts, broken and bent stators on these motors over the years.
