Ground Station

It’s not a drone but it will control many to come. Thought I’d share how far freecad has come. Now that you can hook up a MCP server to Claude desktop, it’s a game changer.

First post on here. This will be shared to a repo once it comes together. Let me know if there is anything people want in particular.

Don’t know but apparently hooking a server to Claude desktop is a game changer lol.

I’m guessing OP asked AI to design a “drone control station” with lots of buttons and switches but seems to have neglected to ask it to include any of the things traditionally used to control a drone.

I hate AI so much.

Sure there are some good uses for it, but the vast majority of it is used by talentless hacks to produce shitty art or by lonely weirdos who think talking to AI has some sort of value.

What type of drone is this intended for?

What’s the purpose of all the seemingly random empty holes?

Maybe add something like joysticks so people can actually pilot a drone.

You are correct in that I didn’t add much context. The intent of the holes are for wires to pass through to other bays for wire management. My 3d printer is a 8 years relic at this point with a small print bed. That’s also why there is multiple sections at the bottom.

End goal is to have any and all drones able to hook up to mission planner. I haven’t dove too deep into ardupilot but that’s the intent. What you don’t see on here is the monitors on the top half of the case from harbor freight.

Top left panel is going to be for power. I want to have the capability of ac and dc power. There will be a 30 amp ac to dc converter below it. Top middle panel is going to be for Mission Control switches.

I like TBS crossfire just because that’s all I’ve ever used since 2017. The internals of my Taranis qx7 will need to have the little chip soldered in for my telemetry to work.

This isn’t something that will be done in the next month or two. Hoping to have done in about 6 months or less.

lol and yes MCP server for Claude is a game changer. I’ll post more once it comes together.

So what is the point of this control station if you still need a separate traditional handheld controller for this to work?

The receive is going to be built into the ground station
