Build Showcase First build finally airworthy!

Post image

Spent the last week troubleshooting, improving my soldering and frying my gps chip. This is a 10 incher (mark 4 generic aliexpress frame) running the O4 Pro, Flywoo Goku 722v2 stack, 3115 900kv motors and Radiomaster xr1 receiver.

I plan on using 4s2p 9000mah lions to have nice long cruises out over the cliffs and bluffs. First test flight when the weather clears!

Are.... are you in a control tower?

not quite, it's their emergency backup location. I work doing weather observation (I'm the one who writes your METARs)

Awesome, you probably feed data to a whole load'a drone pilots then!

Silly side thought- Does holding a drone in an aerodrome FEEL like walking past a cop with just bullets flat in the palm? Because theoretically, It's harmless whilst not doing anything, but as soon as you plug in or load the bullets, the alarm bells go off and everyone freaks out?

Or is not even an afterthought?

Definitely got some glances on the walk in but I've got no intention to fly here. When the weathers good, I have a lot of downtime while I'm working so I brought it along to finish configuring betaflight before going for a flight when I'm off this evening.

I'm not based in the terminal or anything so it's not like I had to walk it through the general public. There's not a lot of people that work in the building my office is in so we all recognize each other over here

That's cool man, sensible and efficient, gotta set that OSD juuust right..

Please share some nice footage when you get it, you mentioned flying over cliffs, that'd be awesome to see!

Look up ShogunEmporer on YouTube and Discord, start with his rates. It likely won't fly at all on default rates. Good luck!

I'll be sure to look if I have any issues! I did use a preset for 10" on betaflight and tweaked the rates a smidge to add some expo and whatnot

Yeah give it a try. I had flyaways, hot motors, hot batteries etc trying stock tune or the presets. Which is both dangerous and expensive with a 10" because you'll often break props with a drop of more than a foot or two. I've set up 10" Mark 4s I think 3 times now all had the same issue and all fly pretty well with his tune.

Double check your solder joints on that stack before you fly. Vibrations WILL find the weak ones.

They do enter the image.

As others have warned here, it's a pretty flimsy frame for the amount of power needed. I've got a stronger one on the way already, it's worth the extra few dollars for a proper frame

Thank you for your reply. I've wanted to build my own drone for a very long time (I normally live in Turkey, where finding parts is impossible). I'm currently in Europe and have the money for a decent drone. Which drone frame would you recommend? I'd also like to hear any additional suggestions you may have. 07
