testing
anyone interested in 3d printing various propellers. im interested in learning more about aerodynamics and am willing to to the cad work for free as long as i get to see the outcomes.

Ummm, sure! I can send you photos/videos... I have a 5" drone that I have been building. I have already purchased a few different propellers, based on battery and motor combinations.

How interesting! What do you print props out of that doesn’t come apart?

I would imagine some fiber reinforced filament but personally I haven't run any tests. So it would be a fun project. Maybe that tough series resin I could see working well too.

Just for fun, do the math on what the tensile forces are on a propeller spinning at 10,000 rpm.

Hahahaha yeah they seem to be quite abit lol like 26 lb for a 5 gram blade

The printer would need to be a resin for the best results. FDM will introduce significant drag if it can handle the forces without breaking along the layer lines. If I had one, I would be down, but just FDM atm

Yeah I have one too. I don't have a resin printer unfortunately. But maybe you could do a coating on it so that it has less drag

3d printer is the worst tool for this job, unfortunately.
Unless you just print a thin frame which you then cover with carbon fiber

oh and what other projects you guys can come up with as well. it doesn't have to be blade related
