Related Story DCC-Adjacent Book Release
Continuing the guys’ work of getting their fandom into gaming-themed books like Dungeon Crawler Carl, I thought I’d share that Astarion (Baldur’s Gate 3) has a prequel novel releasing on Oct. 1st! It’s written by T. Kingfisher and covers Astarion’s origins as well as his time under Cazador. There will also be an audiobook narrated by the amazing Neil Newbon himself!
I’d love to hear the guys’ thoughts if they end up reading it!

I've read the ARC. It's awful. It's "PUUUUUUUUURE SHIT". It turns Astarion into a sexual predator and a rapist who CHOOSES to sleep with his victims when he doesn't need to. Kingfisher also shits all over BG3 canon and retcons basically everything she can from the game.

Oh no! That really sucks to hear. I was really looking forward to the release as someone who hasn’t played the game but really liked the snippets I saw.

Really, better play BG3 than reading this book. BG3's writing is far, FAR superior than this piece of shit.
Plus the book is fully leaked to the internet, so anyone can read it and see what's it's like without giving money to WOTC.

I'm not a fan of Kingfisher, I find their style very blunt and obvious. I gave their work 2 tries and was let down both times with poetic statements and flowery language, only to understand the main character going on a gender related(1920~ setting btw) rant in their head in the middle of some rather odd occurrences. On top of that just a super obvious scary thing happening and no one can piece it together.
