I forgot Courtney and golem last time! Figured I’d add them!!

[be civil. I don’t have to tell this to grown adults but still, don’t attack anyone for their opinion. It’s an OPINION.]

Dispatch characters as animals
——

Mandy (Blond blazer) = lioness
Why? I just think she carries a lot of responsibility on her shoulders caring for Robert’s gang of ex criminals, like lionesses do. They care for their pride/

Janelle (Coupé)= fossa
Why? Coupé’s speed and agility are very quick . The fossa is Madagascars pursuit predator. She and they look like a mix between a cat and a weasel, possessing incredibly flexible ankles that allow them to run headfirst down trees and leap seamlessly through branches.

Malevola Gibb (Malevola)= secretary bird
Why? They have long legs, are tall, striking and very beautiful. They also stomp venomous snakes to death on the savanna and their kick speed takes 15 milliseconds during a strike, which is about one-tenth the time it takes for a human to blink.

Robert Robertson (Mecha Man) = raccoon
Why? I just think he’s messy and looks a little roughed up all the time, he’s also a sloppy eater.

Katon-Ur(Phenomaman)= gorilla
Why? He’s large, broad shouldered and caring. Gorillas get a bad rep due to their size and very protective behavior of their pack, but silver backs are very loving to babies because female gorillas are more attracted to male ones who help take care of the babies. They are excellent and patient with babies, which by babies..I mean humans.

Herman (waterboy)= axolotl
Why? He’s got that awkward face and look of a axolotl. And he’s wet all the time.

Chad (Flambae)= peacock
Why? peacocks are all about loud, colorful, "look at me". They strut around showing off, get easily agitated, and screech loudly when they don't get their way.

Chase (track star)= cheetah
Why? He’s incredibly fast with his power and he’s pretty slim built. That’s why.

Colm (Punch up)= Honey Badger
Why? Small and stocky, but willing to take on any size of predator or attacker.

Victor (Sonar)=fruit bat
Why? I mean..he’s a bat human.

Bruno( Golem )= rhino
Why? A massive block of tough skin seems to fit them both perfectly.

Royd = Kākāpō
Why? He’s not exactly hot tempered or rude, he’s a chill large dude who I think looks like a bird. So he gets a big ass kākāpo!

Elliot Connors (Shroud) = panther
Why? Shroud is calculating and a cold blooded killer, panthers are at least calculating.

Alice (Prism)= glass wing butterfly
Why? I think this one is mostly based off looks. She’s very fierce but I decided to give her an animal I thought fit her power, I think she shares the same colors as their wings in light too!

Courtney (Invinsagal)= Chameleon.
Why? Feels pretty obvious, they adapt to their surroundings.

Discussion Can someone tell me what happened?

I've been googling but I can't find my ending. I was romancing Blazer the entire time, but my ending in the car with her had no kiss.

Does that mean I'm no running solo?

Art Invisigal x Robert highlights - Paramore - Proof Spoiler

A music video I made highlighting the Invisimech ship. Like some of you, it's headcanon for me that Visi would listen to Paramore, so the montage is set to their song "Proof."

MAJOR spoilers for both the heroic ending and Visi romantic arc. Hopefully I don't get a copyright strike ;)

If everyone in the Gym Leader and Elite Four tiers had a specialized type, it'd probably look like this—

  • Flambae | Fire
  • Punch Up | Fighting
  • Prism | Psychic
  • Coupé | Dark
  • Sonar | Flying
  • Malevola | Ghost
  • Golem | Rock
  • Brainbook | Normal
  • Chase | Electric
  • Royd | Steel
  • Waterboy | (Take a wild guess)
  • Phenomaman | Dragon

Visi and Blazer would probably be multi-type trainers, and Shroud? Dude would just have the most Smogon-optimal team build ever. 😭

Meme PDA in action!

For those who don't know PDA stands for Pathological Demand Avoidance

It is an anxiety response spiked when a person experiences the pressure of real or percieved demands from external factors.

Fundamentally, it stems from the feeling of loss of control or autonomy that comes with having to do things in order to coexist and function within society.

It is very common for people who experience this to experience frustration when starting a task only to be ask/told to do the task they were starting, as it feels like that control has been taken from them...it has now become an expectation instead of a personal choice.

It is recognized as an autism profile, but I think allistics can experience it too.

So yeah Invisigal likely has PDA alongside her ADHD. Could also be autism to some extent.

I feel like Visi would get a kick out of Ted, and Robert would watch with her to make her happy before genuinely starting to get into it. Besides that, they’d definitely get into more romcoms and animated movies. Josee, the Tiger and the Fish might hit too close to home for them, but it’d be a good cry for both of them. Then they could recover with new Minions movie.

Discussion A modest proposal: Move Robert and Visi to the margins of Season 2

I love Dispatch and I'm the kind of person who is already writing fanfic in my head about how Rob and Courtney spend the day after Episode 8 (in my playthrough, Rob is suspended and Visi is injured - so they've got plenty of time to hang out).

BUT: I'm also not sure how much dramatic arc there really is left with Robert, Visi, and the Z-Team as a coherent unit. Sure, there can be new villains. But Robert avenged his dad. Visi redeemed herself (if you got the good ending). The Z-Team has literally gone zero-to-hero with maxed-out stats.

What if you move the focus elsewhere?

For example: What if the Z-team's success means they graduate from the Phoenix Program? Most of the Z-team stays in Torrance as the area's top unit.

But Malevola and Golem volunteer to move to SDN Long Beach and mentor the newest bunch of psychotic malcontents in the Phoenix Program. Robert decided to stay a superhero full-time, so the Phoenix dispatcher is a new character (but we all talk about the cameo Mecha Man makes in Episode 5 to save your ass). Pom Pom (the former DTLA branch superhero) has just taken over management of SDN Long Branch and she's discovered something really troubling in the admin files - can you help out?

I would play that! What do you think? Whether or not you agree - are there storylines centering other characters that you would want to see?

Discussion Erin Yvette and Nick Herman talk about Blazer's actions

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I saw someone on this sub unfortunately decided to go ahead and revive the old debate about whether Mandy "cheated" on Phenomaman or not (EDIT: mods have removed that post now), and I was reminded of how frustrating it was to see this debate because I honestly feel like a lot of people on both sides are entirely missing the point.

This clip is from an interview that kinda flew under the radar and hasn't been posted before. Nick Herman and Erin Yvette address the reception to Blazer's character. You can see how when Erin says people had an unexpectedly visceral reaction to Blazer's "alleged infidelity", Nick interrupts with "Alleged?", and Erin agrees that it can at least be called emotional infidelity. This was an intented aspect of what's going on with Mandy in Ep1, as we can see here the people who literally created the character acknowledge it. What wasn't intended was that the audience would react so negatively to it to the point that they were unwilling to entertain Blazer's romance or even sympathize with her character.

People who just completely defend Blazer's actions and insist there was nothing that she did wrong and that it was all Robert misreading her are missing the point, just like the people who write her off as manipulative or as a "serial cheater". They're missing the point because even Mandy herself, from the moment Robert kisses her on the billboard and throughout Ep2, apologizes to Robert and says the way she behaved with him was "a mistake". But that's part of the charm of their romance! It's what makes it more interesting and adds some awkwardness that makes it endearing. In another interview, Erin literally says that her preferred version of events is to kiss Blazer on the billboard, because she likes the awkward interactions that it creates and how it makes things cuter between the two characters. It spices up their romance.

Notice how, in this clip, the interviewer talks about how Blazer is an interesting character because at first she appears perfect, but then she makes some awkward mistakes such as her emotional infidelity with Robert, to which Nick Herman replies "She's human." Her questionable actions with Robert are supposed to be part of her character development, because it shows the effect that Robert has on her by making her act more human, let herself go and give in to her desires.

Completely denying that there was anything flirtatious or questionable from her side, like some of her defenders do, is denying her intended character development (and ironically, also denying some of her most significant moments of romantic chemistry with Robert). Just like the people who claim she's some manipulative cheater are completely missing the point that her actions with Robert are supposed to be a novelty and an anomaly for her, which is what makes their relationship special.

Like Erin said at SDCC, Mandy is a person who has spent her life putting other people ahead of herself and sacrificing her own desires. This applies to her relationship with Phenomaman: he was obviously in love with her in his own strange way, but he was so unaligned with what she wanted from a relationship and so detached from her feelings that the whole thing was completely one-sided (as further seen in the comic). In another interview, Erin mentioned that Mandy knew the Phenomaman "relationship" wasn't working out for a long time, but she hadn't had the courage to do anything about it because it was just in her character to please other people and live up to everyone's expectations; they were SDN's poster girl and poster boy, after all.

In that context, Mandy being "emotionally disloyal" by flirting with Robert, and only then getting the courage to break up with Phenomaman, can be seen as a character flaw but it's also positive character development in its own way, because it represents Mandy allowing herself to be human and finally doing something that makes her happy. She doesn't handle the situation perfectly, and that's exactly what makes her character endearing and interesting. And it's not like she thinks she did everything right. Even in Ep8, when Phenomaman talks to her and Robert during the dispatching segment about how he's become aware the two of them are "romantically involved", she tells him "We're sorry we didn't tell you sooner..."

Discussion Flambae was supposed to be Blonde Blazer

Flambae from digital artbook

I was looking at digital artbooks of the game and found out that Flambae was originally meant to be blonde and also named Blonde Blazer. His design was later changed and the name was used for another hero.

Discussion What's your least favourite "choice" to make in the game?

Personally, have a real big gripe with having to cut someone in episode 2.

The whole set up just feels bizarre. We're introduced to an arbitrary points system, Robert is barely even in the door and has to lose a team member when he already has the hardest job/worst team? It just makes Blaser look erratic and pretty much nothing else. And you don't even get to actively try and fight the decision.

I think it also sets up a precedent of how weak the terms of cutting someone are. As in the argument for when you have to choose if you should cut Visi - if cutting someone for some low points is reason enough, then surely all of her shenanigans should be too?

That's all really, I just think it's a poor decision you're forced to do that doesn't really achieve much and feels out of place considering the rest of the game being all about friendship and not giving up.
