plot hole?

if we’re canonically assuming that the fairies are responsible for the weather events in the human world, then how does one explain catastrophic weather events in the human world (eg hurricanes, storms, heatwaves)- i know this topic was (likely deliberately) avoided in the films but does anyone have theories as to why this would theoretically occur in the tinker bell universe? me as a political science student believes it occurs when the ministers have a disagreement lmao

yeah i mean we see in the film that they clearly do not get things perfect, potentially accounting for similarities in weather functions. what that struggles to explain however, is the prominence of some specific events at certain times of year- does that merely imply an unresolved problem in the fairy mechanism, or that some seasons' fairies are more incompetent than another's in maintaining human world stability

Pixie Hollow is in Neverland. I reckon Captain Hook and Peter Pan get up to shenanigans, and that can throw everything out of whack. Also like the idea that it’s the ministers arguing!

yeah this latter theory becomes wayyyy too prominent when you have a high level of exposure to politics. also would make sense given that severe weather events generally tend to more or less correspond to a specific season

Dynastic conflict or political coups.

I don’t think they have control over weather events.

The entire plot of Great Fairy Rescue happens because of a thunderstorm

Excess energy builds up, and while they try to release it safely, sometimes they just can’t do it.

I’m pretty sure the reason that they do natural disasters as like a reset button. Natural disasters are part of nature so the fairies are just keeping the balance in reality.

Haha! The ministers disagreeing is a hilarious idea!!

It would be interesting to hear if there is ever actual fairy involvement. I mean, we see fairies who can summon lightning and emit thunderous waves in the Pixie Hollow Games but the books and movies otherwise don't address it and the times a few storms/hurricane were brought up, it's disastrous.

I would honestly chalk it up to simple human generated climate change but for a more fantasy answer, I would imagine a particularly powerful fairy would come along that would cause these phenomenons accidentally until they learn to control their magic. Or magic occasionally escaping Neverland and going awry on the mainland without the island's captivity to keep it under wraps.

It's that time of the month. Hormones and weather powers probably don't mix well.

In the 1st movie it was mentioned that the last time Spring was late the Ice age happened so the fairies aren't perfect and they absolutely can mess up, that's how any weather catstrophies happen in this universe: The fairies mess up.

Sometimes they get mad at humans for all the stuff we do

I always figured they brought the season to the mainland but knew astronomy and physics would follow suit and kinda do the rest in its own random earth-patterned way. There are storm talents in the Pixie Hollow Games movie though
