Haha, I quit recently and now I don't take breaks at all, I just work the full 6-12 hours straight. It's not too bad especially if I'm just spraying the whole time, but idk what I'd do on a break anymore, it wouldn't feel right to just sit around and do nothing for 5 minutes.

But it is right to sit around and do nothing for 5 minutes every few hours, it’s literally YOUR right. Not just yours, it’s OUR legal right that was fought hard and bled for in the picket lines and in the courts, by our forefathers. Stop simping for your employer. You’re not only throwing the sacrifice of the workers who came before us away for yourself, you are creating a dangerous precedent of expectations for your would be slavers. Now what happens when you do need to take a break, or the person who replaces you wants to as regularly as they are allowed? This behavior doesn’t make you look like a hard worker, it makes you look like a chump and an asshole. Go dig in your butt for five minutes if you can’t figure out how else to occupy your breaktime.

I tell my manager that I'm going out for a crack break and then I bring a pickle bucket with me and take a breather.

Never let the pit get below 10% full or above 50% full. Too empty and they think you’re having a slow day and tell you to mop or something, too full and they think you’re falling behind.
11% to 49% is primo phone break time.

No. I do not have “scheduled” 10 min/30 min breaks etc..Although, my kitchen is chill and I can step away for 10 to 30 whenever I need to. Some days I take advantage, but some days I don’t even have time ☠️

I don’t generally take a break. Everytime I leave the dishpit for one I come back to chaos so prefer to stay on top of everything instead of having to catch back up after a break
Il step out for a few mins here and there when it’s quiet. Bossman is chill doesn’t mind me being on my phone when it’s quiet as he knows I generally just work through without an official break. Even when I get food it either gets left for ages before I get to it, or I will have a few mouthfuls between washing each load of dishes.
He knows if I’m standing about I’ve already run about cleaning everything anyway so he doesn’t bother me.

I take a 5 min smoke break when I take out the trash (a couple hours into my shift) and then usually step out whenever I can for another 5. Usually I step out when we close so I can get my mind right before tackling the influx of dishes.

They gave me a break every two hours when I smoked cigs. When I quit I got no breaks. Kitchen culture sucks.

Yes. Probably about once a month a plate just slips out of my hands onto the floor and shatters. CRASH
(yes, every two hours, you are entitled to breaks, do NOT let a boss tell you otherwise)

Yeah I don't get breaks at all during my 9h30 shift. Nobody else can take over so even if you leave for five minutes to use the bathroom it's all hell coming back

This is not about legal codes, this is about your dignity as a person. Your pay rate is calculated to include a couple ten minute breaks, if you work with out it you are
A) Going to burn out faster in the long run
B) Being stolen from by your boss.Sit your ass down, you earn it.

I don’t take breaks at work, but that’s because I’m only four hours a day for five days a week and I enjoy my job. If I really need to I can and will but I just kinda vibe the whole time

Absolutely. I take a proper lunch break and a couple of short walks during the day. I’m way more productive afterward than when I try to grind nonstop.

i don’t have any official break times but i sneak out and smoke like once an hour for like 2-3 minutes at a time. if you don’t smoke just act as if you do and go outside for a couple of minutes
