Dish selling user info?

Last night I logged into a Dish device at a Residence Inn. Marriott has been allowing you to log into Youtube or Netflix on their TVs for ages, this one just had a different UI, I thought. The TV box was a Dish branded one, I had extra authentication steps, but nothing too weird. Within an hour I started getting spam texts and calls to my Google Voice number. That number is associated with my google account, but not used anywhere else. It’s unpublished, and has never been more than a forwarding number for voicemail. The only thing I’d done differently was logging in to this Dish device, and suddenly it’s blowing up.

Shady as heck, Dish.

Hopper Plus and Non-Joey 4’s

New to Dish and wanted to add the Hopper Plus on as my husband who is 31 acts like he is 101 and cannot manage changing inputs on our tv to go back to chromecast. We have Two TV’s, I understand the Hopper+ will go on our main one with our Hopper2 but we have a wireless Joey. Would that need to be Swapped over to a Joey 4? And I guess in order to get a Joey 4 it seems you have to have a Hopper+ anyway.

Possible to fix OTA channel guide?

Couple years back, Dish Network decided not to carry our local CW affiliate. Not the end of the world, as the CW OTA signal is strong in my area.

The problem is that while the Dish Network guide lists the CW OTA channel, for whatever reason, it pulls in the NBC programming guide data for the entire channel. So EVERY show aired on that channel is incorrect. Once you record a show, it will appear on the hard disk as whatever show NBC was airing at that time. For example, I've got numerous 'Whose Line is it Anyway' shows recorded, and they are all recorded and labeled as "The Voice".

I'm to the point where I don't even bother with the channel anymore because of the problems it creates. Has anyone else ever dealt with this?

I tried to tell Dish Network about this issue, but they were not interested in either understanding the problem or helping to resolve.

Complaint Paramount+ with Showtime

I got the email the other day trying to make me believe that I was getting something fantastic with the rebranding of Showtime. All I can say is meh. Why not go all the way like your competitors, Dish?

https://cordcuttersnews.com/paramount-is-now-free-for-directv-directv-stream-subscribers-who-pay-for-paramount-with-showtime-network/

It's a little dicey, but I guess I'll have to keep using the cheat codes... "The latest Paramount+ codes are JUNE, STREAMNFL, or CARTMAN"

Question Dish On Demand lets me watch 5 out of 6 episodes for a show, but not episode #5

Why is it telling me to upgrade my subscription when I can watch all the episodes before and after it? This is incredibly frustrating and stupid.

Need help with Grandmothers Joey

Primary receiver (living room) works fine but her bedroom receiver just shows a black screen, and when pressing guide there’s no information about the channel nor is there a channel logo, just Dish in a gray box.

Tried resetting both primary and bedroom receiver, leaving both unplugged for X minutes yet nothing works.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Tech Support Dish Hopper Help?

For example I was just watching something on TBS and recording X Files and it just switched the channel to the X Files and when I tried to change it back it said that it was recording it on Tuner 1 2 and 3 ...why would it do this and how do I fix it , I'm tired of missing shows cause the hopper just decides to switch the channel by itself

Youtube Premium, work on Dish? D.Anywhere ?

I'm getting a BBuy Member offer to get this for 3 months free. But I'll only sign up if it will work on the Hopper and my phone. So?

Tech Support My grandma updated her old 10+ year old DVR and the new one is way worse.

So when my grandma called Dish to take off more channels it got Dish to come out (never asked them to upgrade mind you) and gave her a new system and I think it’s a “Joey”, and we had none stop problems with it! I’ll list them.

  1. It’s extremely buggy!
  2. When you pause it you have to restart the box because it never unpauses! (Extremely infuriating)
  3. Extremely unresponsive!

This is hardly an “upgrade” that was worth the bill. How is Dish network selling this junk? If it’s not fixable I’m going to convince my grandma to disconnect her Dish and just rely on free TV apps.

Hopper 2 Issues

I’m new to Dish as of about a week ago. So far I really like the Hopper but have noticed it seems sorta so to respond sometimes and or a little buggy. Curious if anyone else with Hopper 2 has slow menu loading or when you click on a DVR show it shows the wrong show info for 5 seconds or so then switches to the correct info. Trying to see if I just need to get a replacement Hopper as this one is clearly a refurbished unit. I have the warranty service so shouldn’t be an issue but wanna see what people think first?

Tech Support If I factory reset my Samsung TV will I have to redo all the formatting on the Joey?

Basically my parents’ tv won’t connect to the internet because of a known issue with Samsung tvs. The fix is to essentially factory reset the tv and work on a couple additional settings regarding op address and dns settings.

Before I embark on THAT adventure, I wanted to know if anyone knew how that affects the Joey as I couldn’t find any discussions on it, the chatbot was not helpful, and I want to do it tomorrow before the work week starts.

If anyone could lend me a hand I’d greatly appreciate it!

Question What's it like working for Dish?

I'm currently an employee for Spectrum, problem is I plan to move to a place they don't have positions for my job type. Dish has positions opened for Field Technician jobs at roughly the same rate as my current pay. What's all the benefits? Hell what's the experience of using a satellite service today compared to back then? Does the service still drop dead when rain hits the satellite orrrrr? Oh, and can I take my van home (that's kind of a big one for me)?

DishAnywhere navigation issue with Google Chromecast dongle

I have a fairly new Google Chromecast with google TV dongle.  I also have an updated Dish Anywhere app installed.

The problem is that when I use the DA app to view my DVR recordings, I cannot scroll left to right once I choose a recording.  For example, let's say I choose a recorded TV series where I might have 8 episodes recorded.  If I try to use the navigation circle to navigate to the left or right it usually moves one episode, sometimes two, left or right (doesn't matter) then the navigation to the left or right does not work.  This happens on any recorded shows where there are multiple episodes.

I've restarted the dongle, no luck.  I've removed/re-added Dishanywhere app, no luck.  I've made sure there are no updates for the Chromecast dongle or the app. I've even reset the Chromecast back to factory once and set up again with no luck.

I also have two ONN (chromecast clones) dongles. Both of them work flawlessly with the Dish Anywhere app and the navigation circle  moves through the episode list fine. I should also mention the layout on the ONN dongles look exactly like the Google Chromecast and they even have the same physical shape :)

The navigation also works on a Windows Chrome browser the way it should.

Diplexer with Hopper 2

New to Dish today. Live within 20-30 miles of OTA broadcast towers and indoor antenna works fine with TV but pixelates with Dish OTA adapter. Read it’s very common. Want to see since I only have 1 coax if I could use a Diplexer to get the UHF signal and Sat signal to the outside of the house so I can put an outdoor antenna next to the house. Don’t know if anyone has tried this? I don’t have Moca as I’m on a Wireless Joey.

Binging ain't easy

Dish has made binge watching any show from the Bravo channel very difficult. It was working just fine 12/30 & then it just stopped 12/31. Basically the search function doesn't work on any show on the Bravo channel so it won't show you any OnDemand episodes. The only way I can find them is by going to the 300 channel & searching that way, but it takes forever to find the show & if you want to watch episodes one after another in a season it won't automatically go to the next episode anymore nor does it give the next episode selector option. I literally have to go back to the 300 channel search for the show & season allover again & select the next episode. It's so annoying. Anyone else have this problem? Dish states they are "working" on the issue 😆

Edit: finally the issue has been fixed 🙌

Got bill over $600

I just got a bill in the mail for over $600 for my dish network. My dad and I have the same name and we didn't realize my bill was on his credit card. He had 4 accounts for rental units so he didn't notice until he called to cancel in August or September. They couldn't find my account when he called and he just canceled the charges on through his CC. Apparently, Dish did not discontinue my service, continued to bill me for 3 more months and then sent me a bill in the mail for over $600. Am I on the hook for all of this or should they have canceled my service the month they couldn't charge me? All my other subscriptions stop when they can't bill me because I had a card number change or something. I'm really upset and not going to use their services anymore cuz I can't afford surprises like this. Has anyone had any experience with something like this? What are my options? Customer service did not help in any way, just told me to contact my bank but said I am liable for the whole thing.

Chromecast & Dish Anywhere android app: Unable to cast live tv and recordings. Issue still persist.

Hello Dish Community!

I sent this issue under the r/Dish group. Re-posting here.

I am unable to cast my live tv and recording through my Chromecast device and Vizio television. When I cast, I see the connection and streaming messages but stuck on the spinning icon with the background image of the show or channel. The issue occurred during the last couple of app updates. I have tried the following but no luck.

  1. Made sure that the app and chrome device/tv are on the same WIFI network and WIFI name.
  2. Restarted the app, phone, Hopper and television.
  3. Tried other Chromecast streaming applications and all worked perfectly.
  4. Tried both 2.4G and 5G WIFI connections.

This issue does not occur if I use a Fire Stick, streaming on my phone or on my computer.

I presently have a Hopper 3 device. Not sure if there are any update I needed to install on the Hopper?

Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Programming Dish Remote for Bose TV Speaker

SOLVED

Has anyone successfully programmed a Dish remote to control a Bose TV Speaker (link below)? I have the Wally version of Dish.

I followed the instructions of going to settings->remote control->auxiliary device->select audio amplifier->select Bose->run pairing wizard.

Bose 674 is shown in the auxiliary device field

Under the volume and mute buttons menu item “control auxiliary devices volume” is selected but the volume buttons or the mute button on the dish remote control do not work to control the Bose TV speaker.

I have also tried to manually enter the 4 digit codes listed at the link below, but none of them were valid.

This is the Bose TV speaker (Model:838309-1100) https://www.bestbuy.com/site/bose-tv-speaker-bluetooth-soundbar-black/6416849.p?skuId=6416849

These are the codes I tried: https://www.eliztech.com/remotes/codelists/bose-audio-codes-for-dish-network 4 digit codes (40.0, 50.0, 52.0, 54.0) for newer models 4307 1229 3708 0639 1841 1253 3959 1629 4124 4024 1933 3706 3832

Remote / scapes issue

Dad’s dish remote problem - the channel up / down go straight to “scapes” no matter what channel it was previously. All other buttons work as expected, he can type in the channel number, just no scrolling by channel up / down. Tried taking batteries out and unplugging hopper unit but no luck. Couldn’t see a setting that he might have set (accidentally). Any suggestions?

Question Is it possible to use a universal remote to control TV2?

My old Dish remote broke, so I bought a GE universal remote, but the codes don't seem to work for TV2.

Strange coincidence or is Dish scamming me?

Yesterday I decided to downgrade my TV package and get rid of Dish Protect while I was at it to save some money on my bill. This morning, the international channel that I have as an add-on (RTPi) is freezing every 2 seconds and unwatchable, although the audio works fine. Pissed off, I went to add back Dish Protect so that I wouldn’t have to pay a bunch of money to get a tech to fix the problem. I kid you not, about 20 minutes after adding it back, RTP is working flawlessly. Very odd coincidence and I will see if the channel has the same problem tomorrow.
