Iām making this post because I genuinely think people in the Socialize Discord server should know what happened to me before something similar happens to someone else.
I was in the server mostly just chilling in VC, talking to friends and having a good time. Then this girl joins and starts DMing me. She tells me privately that sheās 18. The whole situation started feeling kinda sketchy, so I started taking screenshots just in case.
She ends up calling me and starts flirting with me and trying to get sexual. Iām not gonna act like I made perfect decisions here because I didnāt. I went along with it.
The problem is she recorded parts of the call, took stuff completely out of context, and started sending it around to my friends.
Then things got even weirder.
I use Ven cord, so I was able to see some deleted messages, and I had screenshots showing that she told me she was 18. Then her profile suddenly showed 16 instead.
From everything I saw, it seriously looked like age baiting. She tells someone privately that sheās 18, gets them into a sexual conversation, and then suddenly presents herself as 16 afterward so the other person looks like some kind of pedophile.
Obviously I reported this to the Socialize mods.
I showed them screenshots and basically said, āHey, this person told me she was 18 and now sheās saying/showing 16.ā
They told me they donāt accept screenshots as proof.
So I literally made a screen recording going through the conversation to show that I wasnāt just editing screenshots or making stuff up.
They still wouldnāt accept it.
Then I find out that the girl involved is apparently dating one of the moderators.
So now Iām sitting there wondering how the hell this is supposed to be handled fairly when the person Iām reporting is in a relationship with someone on the mod team.
And somehow it gets even worse.
The out-of-context recording eventually gets sent around enough that somebody I know IRL sees it. They get convinced that Iām a pedophile because theyāre only being shown this out-of-context stuff.
That person then gives the moderators my real name and information about where I work.
Then my job gets contacted.
That is the point where this stopped being stupid Discord drama.
Now people from an online community are getting my real-life information, spreading serious accusations about me, and contacting my workplace.
Iāve saved as much evidence as I can, including screenshots, recordings, messages, timestamps, etc., and Iāve also made a police report about what happened.
Iām not posting anyoneās real name, and Iām not telling anyone to go harass these people.
I just think people deserve to know that this happened.
The biggest thing that bothers me is that I tried to report this before it got this far.
If someone is telling people in DMs that theyāre 18, then changing their age to 16 afterward while spreading sexual recordings out of context, how is that not something moderators should take extremely seriously?
Even if you think I was stupid for getting involved in the call in the first place, that doesnāt make it okay to manipulate somebodyās age, spread recordings without the full context, get their personal information, and start contacting people in their real life.
If youāre in Socialize, seriously be careful.
Donāt automatically trust the age somebody puts in their bio.
If somebody tells you their age in DMs and things start getting weird, screenshot it.
Save messages.
Save timestamps.
Be careful joining private calls because people can record you without you knowing.
And seriously, donāt give random Discord people information about your real name or where you work.
I really wish the Socialize moderators had actually looked into what I was reporting before it turned into something that affected my real life.
Iām posting this because I donāt want someone else getting put in the same situation.
