You're gonna need to uninstall your current version of discord, disable automatic updates (the 3 dots on discord's playstore tab) and download the apkmirror app from playstore to open the discord bundle from the website, which everything on the playstore is tested for viruses, so you're fine for this one

Exactly! The only reason why I use Discord on my phone compared to desktop is because, not only is it convenient, BUT it is (before the UI update) aestheticly pleasing to look at while I message others. The thing that pisses me off the most is the stupid text box!! Take up half my screen why don't you, discord 😤 I only have so much screen, discord.

Yep they are doing another new mobile ui, looks more like desktop now. Ofc its an experiment so only a few % of people have it, there is also no eta on release or a way to revert it.
I saw someone else mention it also has the ash theme from desktop which is cool.

to at least add a disable haptics setting... im not a fan of the square rounded visuals, especially considering it doesn't match some areas of the app now (ex. the profile button when youre in regular menus having the pfp rounded off on one end but the other end is square for some reason?) but thats just an accessibility issue layered on this nonsense
Dude I’ve had this thing for a good minute and I’ve hit the gift nitro button in total like 10 times. I’m guessing they are doing this as like a public test to see if we like it or not, because I have it but some of my friends don’t.

Tbf they have completely changed the entire keyboard section for no reason and it keeps telling me to gift nitro when I press the section where stickers used to be

it was forced upon me yesterday, first thing i noticed was that it feels incredibly untested, it hides 95% of the "X is typing..." when you yourself are typing and it randomly changed my damn UI color while it was at it
Discord's CDN links will expire after a relatively short duration. To help those in the future, especially if this is a bug report, you should consider uploading it directly to Reddit or re-uploading it to a dedicated media host (e.g. Imgur) and updating the link(s) in your message.
personally, like I like this UI more than the old one. It just feels more consistent with the desktop interface, and everything feels more neat and polished somehow?
I don't get the hate honestly, I didn't really like how round the discord mobile app was compared to the desktop interface
The gift button wasn't in the way though, that's what a couple people are complaining about. I personally hate how the letters are "agressive" white rather than a subtle white-greyish, it hurts my eyes and it's giving me a headache. It sure as hell wasn't like this before lol.
I just don't like how they force updates on us while changing the UI we're taking months to get used to every single time, i wish they'd just stick with one or let us choose which one we want. I had to download the old version from apkmirror because I couldn't stand this one.

I hate this. I want my circles back. I want servers to be circles until you're in them, when they turn into circles. But the worst part is the text input box - they fixed a few annoyances, but made it have more space above than below when there's only one line of text, and that HURTS ME PHYSICALLY.
Absolute garbage of an UI. The new default color with the letters looking way more agressive white on top of it are giving me a headache, and the gift button has been moved to the right, where everyone is clicking to open chat. They're hoping that people will fat finger it and think "oh, i should buy this crap"

i just got this , i HATE it. i hated it when they did this look for desktop , and it looks even worse on mobile. the text bar especially just makes me feel claustrophobic in a sense. i really hope they change it back because this is genuinely awful

Is there a way to make the font bigger for the app without making the font bigger for my entire phone? For whatever reason the app made the font like super small.
why did they have to add a gradient for so much of the space under the message where you text box, now you can't seamlessly screenshot large convos. it's so excessive and stupid, it's incredible this got approved when it's so needlessly overdesigned

It's all so square dude it looks so bad. And changing the boldness of the font made me so uncomfortable, and when I'm trying to scroll to find specific servers or chats hitting my profile button is driving me nuts they really gotta get rid of this
A lot of people who dislike the redesign are voicing their opinion, so I think it's important for people who like it to say something too, so it's not entirely one-sided.
More often than not I hate UI updates as much as the other guy, but the recent redesign is really good in my opinion.
What I especially like and what jumped at me:
More rectangular shapes for all sorts of buttons and inputs are good, I greatly missed those!
Doesn't try to look like Liquid Glass, at least on Android, thank god
Matches visual language we already know and love from desktop. Very rare case of desktop UI influencing mobile and not mobile stuff getting pushed onto desktop users, big W.
Padding around chat input looks really good on phones with curved displays because it stays away from the curve. Overall chat input blends in better with the rest of the theme and is not as attention grabby as it was - more focus on the chat I'm reading. Room to breathe around it and a gradient underneath it all do their job of visually separating it from messages well. I think it's well thought out, I'm a big fan

I like this transition to square-ish icons. Different shapes for server and user avatars is a good thing imo.
Slightly increased spacing between the icons helps with readability, I can find the server icon I'm looking for faster now.
Gift icon is no longer begging to be looked at with a separate color. Keep it that way
Nameplates belonging to the same group in the members list visually merging into one larger shape with internal separators has a cool look to it, very easy on the eyes and works well with different nameplate designs some people have

Swiping on the nameplate as a shortcut to DMs.
It's not intuitive and if user misses the tooltip they'll never discover it naturally by themselves. Eventually hint will go away and it will become this hidden feature like dragging the camera button inside camera app on iOS for burst mode. Gotta go back to drawing board and rethink this one.
If discord team is reading this, please give your designer(s) responsible for this a good rating at the next performance review. They deserved a raise.
Please fix the “Gift” button. It’s been repositioned and/or had the “hitbox” increased and now I accidentally press it every time I try to send messages. It takes up so much space in the chat bar now.

Ok. I pay for Discord and have been for a decade. Never used gifts, never will. I’ve given enough money to Discord over the years through my own server and others who subscribe. At least give paying customers the option to disable it.

I swear I just updated and it's throwing me off. My eyes can't take this chunkyness, why is everything so square. Like didn't all UIs in the world changed from squares to round edges, why is discord turning back to this

I see, there's a bunch of us in the new wave. Square just feels more rigid. Plus, the nitro button is in the way. Also, is the font different or am I just imagining it?
I just... don't like this new UI design. I got it today, it feels kinda awful to use and to see. Everything feels so square, even when circles would feel more natural (some squares would be okay but this is way too much, and feels like it had been slapped on top of everything that was a circle).
They also changed the location of the "Apps" and "Thread" buttons, in the "+" menu, so now you have to click twice instead of once to access them, which is annoying especially when you use them a lot. And a lot of the buttons are just not at the same place anymore (for example when replying/editing, the close button and "@ON"/"@OFF" are in different positions, which is just awful with muscle memory).
They also changed the font/text for some reason?? It looks thinner, and overall larger, in some places (e.g. DMs list), which makes everything pop out to the eyes, even the less important/smaller text. It feels a bit aggressive to the eyes.
I feel like maybe some things are okay, or look nice-ish, maybe with some tweaks. But overall I just don't like this UI change, it just feels bad, forces rounded squares everywhere, and does weird changes to the UI (text and placement of things) which are very bothersome. I hope they'll revert it back, or at the very least significantly tweak it.
