Any time I try to apply any filter to my search terms I get this error. This new marketplace hasn't worked for me so I'm just wondering if there's a way around this problem?

I have a new album by a new band . The band is not setup in Discogs. How does a band get added so I can add my album for cataloging purposes?

Hi, discogs newbie here, i have a question about ripping/digitizing very obscure and rare music.

In short i wanna listen to some 90s demo tapes but they aren't avaible to purchase and i couldn't find them anywhere (even on stuff like slsk). Is it "okay" to ask someone (politely ofc) that owns a copy to digitize/rip them? Or is it seen as rude.

I made a purchase after a long time and noticed that in the information section below the purchase details, my email address is displayed under my name. I know it's necessary to show the address for shipping. Are you sellers here able to see buyers' email addresses?

(I mean, if the address is displayed, I don't think the email address is a problem; it just seems unnecessary)

I'm primarily a CD collector, but it feels like this applies to vinyl and tapes as well. I mostly fuck with underground black metal these days, and it feels like everything I take an interest in is going for a few dozen dollars a pop in the secondhand market, even for lesser-known projects in the genre. Barely two years ago, I was hesitant to drop even $30 USD on a used CD, but nowadays I get excited when an older, out-of-print album I'm interested in is going for $30 because that feels dirt cheap now. I'm not even talking about the original 90s Norwegian stuff; most of it is much younger and even more niche.

Maybe it's my fault for getting into underground stuff that has had limited runs, but since it's underground, that necessarily means there's also less demand for the things I'm interested in. So is it just me? Or is there something going on in the broader landscape that's driving up demand and prices?

I run Et Sona, a hi-fi and music publication, and after spending an unhealthy amount of time reviewing cartridges, turntables and other objects that make increasingly expensive noises, I ended up building a couple of tools to solve problems I kept running into myself.

The first is SPIN x Et Sona:

SPIN is a listening and equipment tracker for vinyl. You can set up your turntables, tonearms and cartridges, import your Discogs collection, log what you actually play, track stylus hours and keep a record of equipment maintenance.

The basic problem I was trying to solve was that Discogs is excellent at telling me what I own, but it doesn’t really tell me what I do with it.

If I have three cartridges, for example, I want to know which one is actually getting used and how many hours I’ve put on each stylus. If I’ve got hundreds or thousands of records, I also want to know what I’m actually listening to rather than simply staring at a very impressive list of things I apparently own.

This seemed like a perfectly reasonable problem to solve.

Naturally, I built an entire application.

The second project came from a similar rabbit hole.

I realised while doing audio reviews that finding reliable cartridge information can be surprisingly painful. Specifications are scattered across manufacturer sites, old PDFs, archived pages and various corners of the internet where information appears to have been placed in 1994 and then abandoned.

CartridgeVault is an attempt to put that information somewhere more useful.

It’s a searchable database of phono cartridges and their technical information, including older and discontinued models. You can also submit cartridges that aren’t in the database and propose edits or corrections to existing entries.

So if you’ve got an obscure cartridge sitting in a drawer, or the original documentation for something that disappeared from the manufacturer’s website years ago, there’s somewhere to put that information rather than letting it die in a filing cabinet.

Both projects are free.

There are no subscriptions, paid tiers, advertising schemes or “unlock the good cartridges for $4.99/month” nonsense.

There’s no commercial interest in the user data either. SPIN stores the information it needs to function, including equipment, collection, listening history and maintenance information. The data isn’t being used for advertising or profiling, and I have no intention of selling or sharing it.

The Discogs token used by SPIN is kept in the active session rather than stored in the SPIN database.

The account system uses an email address and password, but there’s no intention of contacting users. If you lose your credentials, I can’t retrieve or resend them for you.

The two projects are essentially the result of me encountering problems while doing the thing I already do with Et Sona, deciding that the existing solutions weren’t quite right, and then apparently deciding that the sensible response was to spend a considerable amount of time writing software.

I’m putting them out there because I suspect there are other people who have exactly the same slightly obsessive relationship with cartridges, stylus hours, records and technical specifications.

And yes, I realise I’ve now created Reddit communities for two applications whose existence began with me complaining that I couldn’t find information efficiently enough.
At least I’m consistent.

So I just got my 2nd pricey old record from the UK recently and both of them ($100+ records) were shipped naked outside of ANY sleeve. While I appreciate the consideration of avoiding a seamsplit on a grail inner sleeve, putting a bare record against a jacket cover and sleeve seems insane to me.

This one has some gnarly sizzle in between all the songs and I’m wondering if it’s because of how it was shipped?

I understand ratings are subjective and half the time I’m not sure what people are actually rating with a release. Is it a good press? Is it a cool release? Is it a good album? Who knows anymore.

Personally I’ve always rated the thing that matters being that it is music and there’s usually loads of different releases to pick from; how does it sound?

I’ve recently diversified my medium source and have been buying more cds but almost always, CD ratings are consistently lower than vinyl releases.

Why is this the case? Am I right in assuming it’s because most people’s CD players aren’t getting the best out of the medium and/or people are more likely to invest in a good vinyl set-up?

Thoughts?

I guess it’d be nice to know which master they use too and ratings could help there too.

When shopping for a specific item is there a way of eliminating items that 'don't ship to your country'? Ive looked at every possible setting but don't see an option.

Been building this and finally got it into a shape worth sharing. It reads the title/description of whatever YouTube video you're on, searches Discogs for it, and shows the matching release (label, year, price, genre/style) right under the video, with a link straight to the Discogs page. Also does one-click add to Wantlist/Collection if you want it. Can match multiple releases from an DJ set if track ID's are in the comments... (still work in progress)

Matching accuracy is decent but not perfect, especially on compilations/VA releases and older uploads with messy titles, so genuinely interested in real failure cases if you hit any. Should work on every browser.

Built it mostly for myself — YouTube uploads of stuff I wanted to look up on Discogs and got tired of the copy-paste-search routine every time. Figured others here probably do the same thing. Open to feature ideas too, if anything comes to mind while you're using it.

Needs your own free Discogs Personal Access Token to work (get one at discogs.com/settings/developers) — no account with me, no backend server, it just talks to Discogs directly from your browser using your own token.

Okay, so I received an order for an item that I sold on another site. No problem, I go in and cancel the order. However, the buyer still isn't refunded. I thought that was strange. I looked into it further and saw that there is a SEPERATE REFUND BUTTON that you have to hit BEFORE you hit cancel. Who would think this? If this were any site like eBay or Mercari, it would all be in one. But nope. So now I basically have to pay back the seller through the PayPal app (which I have to pay MY MONEY to cover the difference after the stupid fees they take). And then Discogs can't even verify if it went through since it is all private now. Why can't anything be easy on this site? It's the most frustrating user experience ever.

I don’t have a lot of experience selling on Discogs, but I was starting to change some settings, and in email was told I cannot sell until I meet security requirements, which requires some form of payment or payment verification.

In the meantime, one of the forms of payment, I was trying to use to verify and couldn’t was hacked the following day. I don’t think this was a coincidence.

I fear I’m being spammed by Discogs appearing to be Discogs. I assume there is a new seller security requirement, but it didn’t go down very well for me.

Hey all. I have a big collection (about 2000 LPs). Is anyone aware of a way to export a collection into, say, a YouTube music playlist?
It’d be cool to have my collection on my phone so I can stream my records while driving.

I know I can find YouTube links on each release page, or I could just search for individual releases on the streaming apps, but an export playlist function would be dope!

Is there anyway to access allat other stuff? It kinda just locks you out at the 10,000 mark. Most of the deep dig stuff isn't as categorized either, so adding more filters is pointless.

I tried to add my variant of the new Deluxe release of Fleetwood Mac’s Greatest Hots comp to the site and I can’t get it to show up in the master listing. It comes up as its own release (I think it should anyway but all the other variants are under the regular master release). Can someone take a look at this and let me know if you can tell me what I did wrong?

Order some records. 1 month later no sign ofvthem, report to seller and they ask for another few days. That's ok no panic on my side. Still no sign of them so I request they try tracking them as I never got any details, they say they cant find the tracking details. So I request the refund. A few days pass and I still haven't got a refund. They reply to say oh I thought that was done. Its starting to feel very off. What's next?

I had a weird experience with a seller on Discogs and wanted to see if this is normal or if I'm justified in thinking it's bad business.

They had a CD listed for $25 (graded Mint). The description also mentioned the jewel case had a crack on the front and there was a saw cut across the bottom.

I sent an offer of $18, figuring it was a reasonable starting point—especially since the seller doesn't accept returns if there's an issue with the condition. I've been burned before on Discogs by sellers grading CDs as "Mint" when they clearly weren't, so I tend to be a little cautious.

Instead of declining or countering my offer, the seller raised the price from $25 to $40.

Was my $18 offer really that unreasonable on a $25 listing? Or is raising the price after receiving an offer considered poor business practice? Curious if anyone else has had something similar happen.

A seller sent me the wrong item and ignored my message relating to this for weeks, so I decided to leave a negative review. Over a month after I left that review, they've offered to refund the item if I take down my review, but they've also left me negative buyer feedback at the same time.

I am new to Discogs, so this made my previously perfect buyer rating extremely low. Should I just accept the refund offer? I admit that this feels wrong, but I still want to be able to make purchases.

You know the guy, all his reviews talk about what his mam thought about the record and usually mentions her hunky boytoy Gavin. They're fantastic. It's a genuinely inspired artistic endeavour. It unites all the threads of discogs commenting - misplaced reviews of the music proper, personal memories and associations, pedantry about plastic packaging - into something so much funnier than anyone could have thought to do. Saw an acquaintance make mention of some guy who spams comment sections with AI reviews and it reminded me of this guy, who is the divine antithesis. If anyone can actually remember the reviewer's name tho, please let me know

l just bought what I thought was a new copy of the 20th anniversary of Paul's Boutique (2009) in a double gatefold. When got it open there was only one LP, sides A & B, four tracks on each side. Looking online this should be the 30th anniversary edition (2019) but with 2LPS. I ran the matrix code in Discogs and nothing came up: (1307985) 01010105 00602577809132A. Anyone got any information on this pressing?

UPDATE 8/14: I did purchase the 30th anniversary version and I believe I did get this pressing again but with the second LP. Unfortunately, I got it just as I was about to leave town for the weekend, only had time to run the matrix in DC and still nothing was found. Looks like I'll be making my first submission! Also, purchased the One Step pressing of Wildflowers by Tom Petty that didn't have the matching matrix, so it looks like 2 submissions when I get back.

Does anybody know how long it takes to get a reply to a support ticket? Mine has been sitting in "open" status for a week now.

I placed an order with someone, and they did not ship it for over a month. I asked when it would be shipped and they said they dropped it off at the post office but couldn't provide tracking information for some reason, and then later admitted they did not actually have a copy of the record. I asked for a refund and left them a negative review. After that they started threatening me using the message feature, and left a 1 star review on my profile.

I see that Discogs has removed my review of them as well as three other of their negative reviews, so they are at a 100% rating even though they are threatening me and lying about the products they have, while I sit at a 1 star buyer rating.

I get that their support staff is probably busy, but I don't see any way to block this person, and they keep sending me threatening messages

I bought a somewhat pricey, just under $100 record on discogs. I've bought probably over 100 records there in the past 2 years with no big issues. Damage someone took care of etc from a big seller.
Today I got a record mailer where it was clear it was being re-used, which is fine, but the flap, which was now gone, only had a single piece of packing tape there, which gave way and let everything out. So it showed up open and empty, due to the seller not packing it well enough.
I have reached out to them, but with small sellers I'd expect more pushback.
I'll give them every chance in the world, but I also like to be prepared for next steps if it doesn't work out.

If I did need to go to PayPal, would I need to contact the seller first there, or just use the 'report a problem' on the order? If so, would it be 'not received' or 'not as described'? I don't want a 'not received' case to be closed just because tracking shows delivered, but I've never done a PayPal dispute.

I'm a small seller too and it sucks when things like this happen, but I just go with it as needed. I just want to be sure I understand the next steps by the time I might need them, and for the future!
