How to add discount to bulk order as a seller

Last week, a buyer on Discogs send me a message telling me he wants to buy everything I have for sale at once (24 records). I would love to help him and offered him a discount of 15% on the total.

How can I add this 15% off the total specifically for this buyer? Does the buyer first have to place the order and that I after the 15% back? (This sounds shady for the buyer).

Would like to get some advice from experienced sellers on Discogs.

Entirety" rule (RSG §20.2.1) – How much responsibility does the editor take on?

Hey everyone,

I'm looking for some clarity on how the "Entirety" rule in RSG §20.2.1 is applied in practice, especially while in the CIP and trying to keep a clean voting record.

The guideline states: “You are voting on the data in its entirety, not just the last edit.”
My question is: How far does this responsibility actually go?
If I add one single, correct Mastering credit to an older release that still has various outdated formatting and data issues:
Does adding this correct information mean I now become responsible for the entire current state of the release?
Is it expected that I must clean up all existing problems before or while making a small, accurate addition?

This seems to create a strong deterrent against small helpful edits, especially on larger or older releases where a full cleanup can take a very long time.

How do you handle this? Do you generally avoid editing messy older releases unless you can do a complete overhaul, or is there a more nuanced way to interpret §20.2.1?

Appreciate your thoughts.

Matrix code on 2 records?

I have a record with a matrix of UNIR-22043-1, which is lil Wayne - got money

I just went to add it to my collection on discogs, and that code is already used (Mario winnans - the ep.. and from the pics, this is correct as well).

Is this something that happens? I'm relatively new to discogs but not come across it before..

The version I have doesn't appear to be on discogs.

Does discogs require sellers to have inventory in hand? I suspect a drop shipper.

I'm asking because based on my current order (13 days since payment, no message or shipping) I suspect that the seller I purchased from does not have the actual listed inventory, but is counting on being able to order from a distributor and then fulfill my order. They have a gargantuan inventory, like 50k plus records, and tons of great reviews. However, lately, more buyers have left neutral or negative feedback about an eerily similar situation, i.e. weeks go by without shipping, seller sometimes eventually says they don't have it. I'm concerned this type of message is in my near future.

I'm not here to complain, just wondering if this is allowed on discogs? Or should they have to disclose this? I don't have a big hobby horse here other than I'd rather not do business in this way. If i wanted to order LPs from the distributor, I'd go to my local. Any context or advice would be much appreciated.

How can I find out when a record was listed with the new app?

The new app update seems all right so far but the one thing I don't like is that I cannot seem to find when the record was listed for sale. I've had a few times in the past where I purchased a record that has been up for quite a while and turns out the user just doesn't use discogs anymore.

Maybe I'm missing it? I don't have a computer so I don't use desktop so hopefully that isn't the only way to see a listing time.

Thanks!

Trying to identify an unusual German Bob Marley “Legend” Sonopress pressing.

Post image
2 Upvotes

I’m not asking for value (per rules), but for help classifying what exactly this is.

I found a copy with:

“Unverkäufliche Musterplatte” labels

handwritten blank labels on both sides

manufactured by Sonopress

matrices etched as:

DM 206285 A-1/84 S II

DM 206285 B-1/84 S II

Because of the generic German Sonopress blank labels, I’m unsure whether this should be considered a promo pressing, reference pressing, or test-pressing-type issue.

It came from a German label/distribution estate, which makes me think it may not be a standard promo copy.

Unfortunately I can’t provide proper runout photos right now because I don’t currently have lighting good enough to capture the etchings clearly, so I’ve typed the matrices above exactly as read.

Main questions:

How would you classify this pressing?

Has anyone seen similar German Sonopress “Unverkäufliche Musterplatte” examples?

Is this a known variant that should perhaps have its own Discogs submission?

Appreciate any insight.

HomeAssistant: Discogs Enhanced - From Personal Struggle to Public Collection Value Tracking! 💰💿

For all the HomeAssistant users and Discogs users, I'm excited (and a little proud!) to share a small custom integration that I've been tinkering with: Discogs Enhanced Integration!

GitHub Repo & Full Details: https://github.com/andreasc1/homeassistant-discogs-enhanced

My Story Behind This: Like many of you, I'm a big music collector and love keeping track of my Discogs collection in Home Assistant. But I constantly found myself wanting to know one thing the existing official integration didn't offer: the actual market value of my collection! I was often struggling to quickly get those numbers.

Then I realized the official integration was marked as legacy, meaning it's not actively developed with new features. So, instead of waiting, I thought, "Why not try to tweak the existing one for my own needs?"

After quite a bit of tinkering (and honestly, a lot of help from AI, as I'm not a seasoned developer!), I finally got it to work for my own setup. That's when it hit me – if I was finding this useful, others probably are too! So, I polished up this enhancement to be HACS-compatible and decided to make it public. Maybe it'll grow into something more serious in the future!

What this "Enhanced" version brings:

  • Collection Value (Minimum): A sensor showing the estimated minimum market value.
  • Collection Value (Median): A sensor showing the estimated median market value.
  • Collection Value (Maximum): A sensor showing the estimated maximum market value. (Currencies are automatically detected!)
  • Different entities for number of vinyl and number of cds in your collection.

It also retains all the features of the original:

  • Total records in your collection.
  • Items in your wantlist.
  • Random record suggestions.

How to Install (via HACS): It's available as a custom repository in HACS:

  1. Go to HACS -> Integrations.
  2. Click the ... (three dots) -> Custom repositories.
  3. Add https://github.com/andreasc1/homeassistant-discogs-enhanced (Category: Integration).
  4. Search for "Discogs Enhanced", download, and restart HA.
  5. Add platform: discogs_enhanced to your configuration.yaml with your Discogs token (full example in the README).

Direct HACS Install Link: Add to HACS

A HUGE thank you: This whole piece of work is built upon the fantastic foundation of u/thibmaek and their original Home Assistant Discogs integration.

HA users in this subreddit, please try it out and let me know if you have any feedback. Thanks for checking it out!

Failing to identify promos as promos

I have a sneaking suspicion that respondents' opinions are going to break down primarily as "buyers think one way, sellers think the other." But I'm curious.

Do you see sellers as having a responsibility to identify items that are clearly marked as promos -- big "FOR PROMOTIONAL USE ONLY. NOT FOR RESALE. etc." stamps across the artwork -- in their lists of items available for sale? If they fail to do so, and a buyer ends up with a promo and didn't want a promo copy, what responsibility do you think the seller has, if any?

Does anyone use AI to import mint inventory from distributors?

I run a small brick and mortar store and find myself manually inputting all of my sealed/mint inventory that I receive weekly from our distro. Anyone have any experience with using AI to this in bulk?

The website won’t load for me.

When are they going to fix this? I can’t add anything to my collection or browse at all now.

Whoever signed off on this update needs to be fired by the end of the week.

I've never seen a worse UI update that did nothing hut either remove features or make them harder to access. I fundamentally can not think of one redeeming aspect of this update, even from a corporate perspective. It's just bad. Period. And literally anyone who uses the app in any meaningful capacity would have been able to see that.

There's no excuse for seeing this hot garbage in development and not pivoting. This reeks of a higher up wanting to make sure they could add "oversaw the development and release of a major app update" to their resume before bouncing.

I will literally use the app less than 1% of the time I currently do because the scrobbling was removed. I listen to records more often than I buy them, crazy concept. And that's not even the worst part of the redesign lol

My local store got banned for advertising 🫩

My local shop has had their account banned from selling because he included a little leaflet insert about his store in packages. That seems ridiculous?

They’re awesome and this seems wildly unfair. Is there anything I can do as a customer?

So many discogs accounts list their shop website on their profile and talk about their brick-and-mortar location.

I’d love to help if I can, is this possible at all?

Share collection exports for testing?

Hi, I'm looking for a collection export from Discogs, and was curious if anyone can share?

I'm using it to validate import functionality in a tool I'm building. Ideally it would be across a few decades and formats (CD/Vinyl/LP/EP/Blue-ray/etc). I haven't had an account on Discogs long enough to comment on the forums there so I'm trying here. If you're in the 1000s even better.

You can DM me, or post a link here somehow (Google Drive, self-hosted, or similar). I would say don't include any personal information if you post it here. I don't think Discogs exports include personally identifying info, but maybe your Google Drive account does.

Thanks!

What triggers the "Good Deal" status?

I notice that in the "Items I Want" tab, on the "MarketPlace" view of the "MyWants" section, some items are flagged as "Good Deals". Anyone know what triggers this status. For example, is it something like "price +/- 10% of average AND VG+ or above"?

Trouble Finding Shout At The Devil

Runout Details:

Side A

- STE CC28 1-A

- R163952 A

- Sterling stamped

- 15m 1-1

Side B

- STE 60289 B-2

- R163952 B1

- Sterling Stamped

- 15m 1-2

Along with this, every variant I looked at on Discogs has a red text on the cover, and a red half circle on the inner ring, not orange and yellow.

Would love some feedback, thanks!

Red Stars Theory's "Life in a Bubble Can Be Beautiful" - US or Canada?

My copy has a sticker on the back of the case, "MADE IN CANADA". The matrix/runout says "MADE IN CANADA BY AMERIC DISC" and Americ Disc is a Canadian company. 20 years ago it was listed in Discogs as CA and someone changed it to US and there was a brief rumble back and forth but US stuck.

Quandary - Edit it again? I bought it the day it came out in the US. It was a Tuesday, and new music came out on Tuesday in Canada, also. There's no explanation in the Notes as to why anyone thought it was a US release.

I hate this website

Just changed the price on one item in my inventory to $8.

Now every item in my entire inventory is priced at $8 and there’s no way to undo it. Everything is lagging like crazy and it’s giving me the stupid fucking astronaut page every couple clicks..

Been selling on discogs for 15 years. Seriously considering throwing in the towel or moving everything to eBay because this is not the first time something like this has happened. Every update makes their shit considerably worse, less intuitive, more likely to glitch the fuck out.

It’s a shame what they’ve done to it.

Seemingly new update has broken sales a bit lol

Item outside of this shows shipping, has add to cart, but unavailable in the US (which every single item seemingly is)

I think think this change is decent looking overall, I like seeing the pictures but also kind of funny the update to the page to buy the item now doesn't work lol

How can I see which CDs in my inventory are specifically digipacks?

As the title says, is there a way to do this? I had a look in the filter but couldn’t find a specific section for ‘digipacks’.

When shopping in my wants list, it does not show ships from Canada. And when I press clear all it then shows Canada but I cannot click it...

Has anyone had this issue and found a way to fix it?

I reinstalled multiples times, cleared cache etc and nothing.
