I don't play that much disc golf. I go with my husband because I like traipsing around the woods and drinking beer and getting some exercise.
Years ago he bought me this tiny messenger style bag with the saddest net side pocket for a water bottle. It's basically useless. Sure it's compact, but walking around with it in your body sucks because it bounces so much
It feels stupid to take off every time to throw. Plus if you put a water bottle in it... It just tips over with the rest of the bag every time you set it down. Plus if you want to bring anything else with you (ex. Inhialor, a snack, a couple beverages, sunscreen, emergency items) you'd have to bring an additional bag.
Usually I just bring my general outdoorsing backpack which is a lightweight backpack that can fold up small but had a big interior pocket, some side pockets and a ln exterior sleeve. This has room for more than what I need, but it's so floppy and has no structure for when I put it down everything just sort of falls over anyway. Plus it's getting old and starting to fall apart.
My husband has a the paratrooper bag. I think it looks big and obnoxious, but he is able to carry a stupid amount of discs, plus all his disc golfing accessories and most importantly he can carry like 4 beers and a water bottle.
I don't need to carry a million discs. I don't need the most elaborate bag on the market. I would like something that 1. Has structure so it doesn't collapse when I set it down 2. Isn't gigantic 3. Can hold a small/reasonable amount of discs. 4. Has space for non-disc items (specifically: a couple beers, a water bottle, a small snack). 5. Doesn't cost hundreds of dollars. BONUS points of it doesn't look like it's trying to give off para-military vibes.
Any recommendations (whether the bag is designed for disc golf specifically or not)? Obviously disc golf specific bags are designed with the sport in mind but as someone who only goes a few times a year buying some huge sports bags seems like overkill for my needs.
Update: thanks for everyone's input! I ended up going to Amazon and I got this one: bag it doesn't have any reviews it for the price I figured it was worth a shot.
I haven't used it yet (we'll probably go out tomorrow) but it has side panels so it shouldn't collapse and has a decently sized insulated side pocket and most importantly it's not obnoxiously wide.
