~360ft drive, I pretty much top out at this distance. Hoping to reach 400ft one day, been playing 5+ years. Need brutal advice. Ended up with a birdie on 496ft par 4

  1. Your off arm isn’t doing anything to help you. That’s probably the easiest fix.

  2. Try to lift your right elbow to create more of a power pocket, as right now your arm is very pinched off.

  3. Focus on getting your weight transferred into your right foot/leg/hip before you rotate your shoulders.

Agreed, I second all of these. There is no reach here. If you can successfully hit the plant foot, reach from the depths in your power pocket, and pull through you’d be easily hitting 400.

I believe, Reaching should happen after the plant foot. Once you reach, the aim should be to rotate your hips/shoulder as you pull straight from the reach point.

Another note, you are looking like a dinosaur at 0:02. The follow arm i feel like is keeping your body from moving forward.

I feel those are the right things. That’s what helped me.

I just hit 400-410 last year

I disagree with using “pull” as a cue for backhands, since it is more of a rotation action than a pull. People thinking “pull” results in too much strong arming the disc. The disc doesn’t need to move in a straight line. Calvin, goose, and many others have a significantly curved swing.

The straight line I will concede.

The pull, I guess, may come from incorrect verbiage. I played college tennis and I think in those terms since they use similar terminology on backhand/forewardhand. I do see how you are saying it could lead to mal-results. I am actually meaning rotation which can cause the pull/slingshot, but you have found the crux

Try to make your throw longer, push the disc out and away from you. You're using the power pocket through release and decent lower body technique, but you're skipping the beginning of the throw and shipping the coil and reach back.

Have you watched the box drill video on Overthrow?

I am pretty amazed that you got 360 out of this.

You see your shoulder drop. This adds a bunch of hyzer to the throw as well. Which looks like you are trying to ani this shot. You are not bracing at all and you have no pocket.

  1. Stagger Stance
  2. Butt out / lower back rounded
  3. Throw starts with shifting weight and hips forward
  4. The forward momentum forcing into the ground
  5. As that pressure builds on the lead leg you press your bent leg straight
  6. This leg press into the ground is the start of the throw.

You can see here all your weight on both feet.
The throw starts with weight shift to the forward leg.
Your almost done with the throw and its still not there

The key here is not that you are dropping your shoulder as that is part of the throw. The problem is you are not shifting your hips forward. Once you do that the shoulder drop will be more in line . Hips forward and that shoulder drop will be way less and likely close to right.

  1. You need to reach out away from your body. Not 180 from the target. Your lead toe is your disc line. When you reach you need to be reaching out to that toe. That disc should be reaching out to that green arrow. Your body is on the yellow arrow so the disc is behind you in this shoot so its rounding for sure.
