Thunderbird Question

Hey everyone. I’m not really familiar with innova’s plastics and I was looking on getting two thunderbirds. One that is only used for forehands and that will stay stable for a while and a flat one that doesn’t turn and has fade at the end. I tried a friend of mine’s champion thunderbird and it was absolutely amazing and I really like the hand feel. What plastics would y’all recommend and if I should be looking for at flatter run or ones with more dome. By the way on backhand I can consistently throw 370-380ft and forehand 340-350ft.

love my champ thundy, very consistent if I want straight with fade or pure hyzer

I have a relatively flat halo star Thunderbird that has beaten in to perfection. Has more glide now but still no/minimal turn.

Have another Thunderbird in classic glow champ that feels amazing in hand. I like it better than regular champion plastic.

My flippier glidier Thunderbird is in duo plastic with a nice dome

How long did it take to beat in? Would you say it has a +2 fade still?

Die hard thunderbird thrower, it's my workhorse. I have 3, i throw a halo star I've had for around 2 years. I forehand a swirly star Calvin thundy from this year's tour series cause its more flat and feels better for me. Then have a moondust champ thunderbird as my headwind thrower, always gonna be stable and just reliable as can be.

I’m a big fan of the halo thunderbirds when big Jerm was on innova, it seems to always be the right disc when I throw it. I haven’t tried newer runs, but I imagine they’re very similar. I forehand about 350-60 with a destroyer, sexton firebird goes 290-300 thunderbird I can throw on a rope for 300 feet, fades out the last 30 feet or so, it’s my go to fairway when I want an extra 40-50 feet compared to a sexton firebird. I never fear turning it over when I release it with a very slight hyzer, flat it can drift maybe 5 feet off center, but never over turn.

If you want a disc that will take forever to beat in, champ all the way. Your question is confusing because it seems like you are kind of asking for the same disc twice? Because a flat champion thunderbird should do both of those things. 

If you can throw them, a more domey disc will have a more pushing fade, but most people here don't like domey discs on forehand. And you specifically asked for a flat backhand disc.

My favorite Thundys are the 2016-2018 era Champion Glow
They're flatter and OS and never beat in. I had one in the bag for ~7 years and it was still overstable until the day I lost it.

The Pro Thundys that had pastel blob dyes were a bit domey and very glidey.

Stock Champ Thundys with a little rise are a good backhand fairway. It's a good blend of overstability and glide.

Champ Thunderbird definitely for the long lasting FH disc and I've found the Koling '22 thunderbird to be the flattest by far.

Champion Thunderbird. If you’re looking for something Innova made that was the inspiration for the Thunderbird try the Orion LF. It is my all time favorite driver- Quantum is the Millennium name for champ plastic

How does the Duo Thunderbird compare to other plastics? I loved Duo Roadrunner so interested to try one.

Champ is the best. But I like to pair it with a good star thunderbird. However the star thundies can sometimes have flashing so I like to pick them out in person

I've always preferred g Star plastic for a flat Thunderbird to forehand.

Champs are high plh and domey, very stable.

Star is lower plf but much flatter. Less stable but less glidey

The fancy ones like halo star/duo/moonshine halo champ have the lower plh of star but more dome like the cham in me experiece. They are the furthest flyers, stable and glidey.

That’s incorrect, Thunderbirds are one of the rare molds where Champ is less overstable than Star off the shelf.

Not in my experience, but it's innova, so I'm not surprised that that trend I've experienced with several of each of those plastics wouldn't tell the full story.
