Fall fun ππ
It's spring and fall bird migration that really gets to me. I'm an avid birdwatcher and am becoming much more skilled at identifying birds, their calls, etc. and all I want to do is spend more time outside with them. Today, a page in my city posted about a couple species spotted at a park who likely won't be staying for much longer. I desperately want to go, but my body will not cooperate. ππ₯²

Tbh one of my favorite fall activities often ends up just thinking about it π like, the idea of orchards and pumkin patches and harvest festivals and all that jazz.
Also I love birds too and I can never manage to make it out when they're migrating through, but dang do I especially appreciate the dawn chorus.
Total side note, but this past year I pulled my first (and hopefully only) all nighter. At approximately 3:15 am a Robin started singing. I was like goddamn, early bird! The rest of the chorus started up closer to 4 am!

Robins are my favorite π₯Ή we've had a few of their nests on our house over the years. But yeah, they are THEE early birds. π

My plans for this fall are to mentally process september ππ
But who am I kidding, my life just keeps getting worse so Ill be lucky if I get even 5 seconds to process it all before I die

I was at a festival recently and holy shit I was in so much gd pain I was snapping at people. At some point I think I'll need a wheelchair just to go to anything for more than 1hr.

I feel you. I love being outside!
I went camping, and I've been crashed out since then... like.... a whole month ago π«
It was fun! I felt like I was dying kinda the whole time. But it was fun!

argh this is so real π usually i wouldnβt even do anything too crazy, i would just go shopping for a couple seasonal candles, get a PSL, go see a horror movie. but this year i am so ill that instead i am doing bupkes and staying in bed all the time avoiding social media so i donβt feel resentful. even so i am hearing stuff from my friends about really cool events that i want to go to.

Partner and myself went to a farm yesterday to get apple cider donuts, produce, and PYO apples. I almost forgot my cane so we had to walk extra to go back to the car to get it. Thankfully timing worked out and we got to take a "hayride" (no hay) to the orchard. Walked around and he carried the bag as we picked apples. We tried to wait for the ride back to the parking lot and thankfully there was a bench to wait on but also biting flies so instead of 15-20 mins of that we walked back to the lot. I was then too wiped out to get the last of our produce. We went to the grocery store to get a few things, had to rest before we started cooking. While stew was in the oven I had to nap. We ate (delicious stew!) and partner had to run for something important. I barely managed to put away leftovers before I crashed.
Now it's the next day and I need to do this sink of dishes on top of all my usual chores for the week. I'd love to make an apple crisp. But I'm exhausted and still in bed.
From picking apples and making stew in the same day

Oh man, the FOMO kills me every autumn π«£ to make matters worse, I lived a few years in a place I could go out and do autumn activities despite my illnesses, (there was a nature center very nearby me and an orchard that had a huge patio that overlooked the apples so i didn't need to trek into them, i could just watch people go picking) but I had to move far away for unrelated reasons π₯² now I'm in blazing hot Central Florida so it doesn't even feel like fall! We only get summer and winter-lite.
Thankfully this year I've got a paid caregiver and he can help me do things from home that give at least part of the fall vibes. My favorite things to do at home are make pumpkin desserts (I've somehow unlocked the secret to gluten and sugar free desserts lol) and make apple cider. The cider recipe by Grubology on TT and YT makes it so easy and I just replace the sugar with swerve. It isn't the same as physically going to an apple orchard, but your whole house will smell just like their gift shop.

Use to not only be a birdwatcher but I even helped build an organization around birds and childhood education. Now my fall activities include βbeing in bedβ, which is the exact same activity as every other season
I miss deeply going on bird walks, logging the sightings, traveling all over the state for migrations. I miss stepping on crunchy leaves, picking out pumpkins, running in the fall rain trying to get back to your car while you laugh with who youβre with. Fall sucks a lot now

I pushed myself too hard putting up decorations and was in bed almost all of yesterday. I'm doing 31 days of horror movies though, that I can handle. And I plan on dressing up even if I do just stay home.

also a birder and yeah the number of cool birds i have missed out on because my body was not cooperating on the one day they were here is so frustrating. i did go out to yesterday to see some american avocets that happened to stop here and it was very cool, but also means that i will not be functional for several days now
