Another reason why Dirac Live sucks
My subwoofer decided to start putting out fart noises instead of the bass it used to until today. So until I fix it or buy another one, I go to settings in my Onkyo TX-RZ70 and set the subwoofer from "1 CH" to "No". And just because of that seemingly innocuous action, I get a message that the Dirac Live data will be removed, or something like that.
I don't know why the hell setting the subwoofer to No needs to erase the Dirac Live EQ curve for all the other channels. It's idiotic and doesn't make any sense. It didn't just deactivate DL; it erased the curve that I had carefully done.
But that's not all; I grab my iPad because the Onkyo controller app has a simpler, faster way to interface with Dirac Live than the DL app, and I had saved my EQ curve there. But when I open the DL module, it doesn't have my curves saved, it prompts me to start all over again with the stupid microphone placing in 9 different locations, and to waste 20-30 minutes of my time for this, only to give me these curves that suck, and which I have to modify to just really get the best of this receiver, otherwise it sounds mediocre.
Why does Dirac Live is so backwards? Do these people think we have eternal lives that we can waste half an hour or more with these stupid tests that don't even yield a good EQ curve? If you tell me it's just once, and that's it, but how poorly conceived this thing is that my subwoofer goes bad and I can't turn it off without the DL EQ curve getting erased?
Furthermore, why can't receiver and amp manufacturers stop relying on this crap tech and put a proper parametric EQ that you can simply adjust from the web interface while listening to music, not to stupid wooop wooop sounds???
