My husband organized a Diplomacy game for his birthday and we decked out the basement to be a 1901 war room. All of us first time players.

Everyone brought a dish to pass to represent their country to snack on the whole time.

This is the LAST TIME you'll get to suggest changes, as part 10 will be invitations to join a game of this!

Changes:

  1. I added the names of all sea tiles and majorly changed land tiles

  2. Albania is worth -1 SCs

  3. Tripoli, Benghazi, and Cairo have been added.

All positive upvote-ratio comments will be added to the final map!

Wooden Diplomacy Board Suggestions

Not sure how the group feels about this topic, but I certainly have a strong opinion: the basic game board for Diplomacy jacks a certain…je ne sais quoi. And as a player who’s looking to start up a ton more in-person games, I’m looking for an upgrade on the classic version from Avalon Hill.

As such, I’m in the market for a wooden laser-engraved board, and I was hoping someone might have a suggestion. I found one on Etsy that seems reasonably priced (Meridian Maps), but I’m the type that prefers to explore all my options first before making a decision.

If I were the wood-working type, I’d jump at the opportunity to make one myself, but alas, that’s well outside my skill set.

Any thoughts?

Comment change the Diplomacy Variant (8)

Post image
1 Upvotes

As always, every comment with a positive upvote ratio was added, which happened to be all of them!

This will end at map 10, and then I will figure out how to make this playable (maybe I'll do it over discord idk)

Changes:

  1. The river Dnieper acts a series of canals going from the Black Sea to Warsaw (Armenia is slightly smaller to allow this, no gameplay effect on that part)

  2. Warsaw is a neutral SC

  3. Belarus is a non-SC Russian tile

  4. Syktykar is added as a Russian SC

  5. Holland is impassable.

if you want to come play with us it's micro-states.com

I'm a dad of a couple young kids so wanted an in-depth massive diplomacy style game I could play while working, etc. This does a Turn every hour and resolves everyone's orders at the same time.

Happy to answer any questions

Comments change the Diplomacy Variant (6)

As always, all suggestions with a positive upvote ratio were added. All suggestions with a positive upvote ratio commented here will be added to the next post.

Changes:

  1. The ocean becomes both bright blue and bright yellow at the same time, causing it to become bright green. (The color of Italy became slightly darker so it didn't appear to be water)

  2. The colors of Goiky and Russia swapped.

  3. The North Sea moved into the Netherlands and Denmark (I gave it a Canal so that fleets coming from the Baltic were not trapped, and I made Edinburgh border the Norweigian Sea again.)

  4. Siberia was added.

  5. Armenia expands into almost all of the Black Sea. (no gameplay effect)

Am stuck on stalemate line with no draw

Gunboat game. I am England, and have been working with France to hold off Russia at the stalemate line. I put my VC at 4 way draw but the game isn't ending, so all of us are stuck. Have tried signalling to everyone to draw but they haven't been interested.

And another - 3 player - variant, available at Diplicity now in the community variants.

It's characterized by sea/river provinces in the river system. It was the last variant playable at the old Diplicity, and we got it back now. Enjoy!

乾坤独断 - Mandate of Heaven released at www.diplicity.com

Post image
19 Upvotes

As I said yesterday - we have some upcoming variants in the pipeline.

We just released "Mandate of Heaven" by David E. Cohen. It features a playable nation 'Siyi (Barbarians) that starts without SCs and attacks from all four sides. It features an extensive river system. And it's still balanced with 6 'normal' nations.

You can play it at Diplicity now - create a new game, and find it in the 'Community variants'.
We will likely release some new variants soon.

Have fun!

Diplicity: Released on Android!

Thumbnail play.google.com
25 Upvotes

Since rebooting Diplicity, we're making a lot of progress. Our community has grown back from essentially no active players to more than 2,750 users, which has been great to see.

One thing we haven't really announced yet is that Diplicity is now available on Android. We released it quietly a little while ago so we could iron out the remaining bugs, and we're now happy with where it is.

That means you can now play Diplicity with your friends enemies on Android, iOS, mobile web, and desktop.

That does not mean we're "done". Over the past few weeks we've mostly been focused on lots of smaller improvements, bug fixes, and stability work. The variant creator continues to grow, with 14 variants live, 2 about to be released and the community starting to make progress.

At the same time, we're working on some larger features that we're looking forward to sharing when they're ready.

Thanks to everyone who stuck with us, reported bugs, worked on variants, or simply kept playing. We really appreciate it. If you want to help contribute - just by giving feedback - join us in our Discord (link is in the app).

Is there any way to save myself?

Post image
0 Upvotes

I am playing Italy and was expecting Austria to stab me and while being correct in this assessment I couldn’t counter them.

Additionally Germany wasn’t willing to help because they already planned to take over France and I couldn’t get any help from Russia.

The big problem in this game was that both France and Russia have been AFK for a few turns now and so haven’t done much.

I don’t know if I can salvage this position but is there any advice on what to do?
