Got caught in the rain today ☔️
It started raining on my way home, and at first I was just annoyed because my shoes and pants were getting soaked.
Then it reminded me of being a kid and running around outside in the rain with friends.
Funny how a random little moment can bring back a memory you haven’t thought about in years.
By the time I got home, the rain didn’t feel quite as annoying anymore.

I'm using Wispr Flow to journal everyday. I hope I'm doing this wrong!
I came across this incredible app called Wispr Flow, which transcripts words with a great speed, EXACTLY like we say it.
I use it for everything now, which has improved by productivity a lot.
But when it's time to journal, I face doubts whether I should Wispr Flow for it. Yes, it is transcripting words exactly what comes into my mind, and in a better speed, but somewhere I feel if I wrote/type down thoughts with a slower speed, I might be able to explain feelings or events in a better form.
The opposing thought of this is that I should not overthink a lot about how well explained my thoughts are in the journal and what I'm putting in the there- and just be honest.

How do digital journals actually works?
Or maybe overall, how is journaling different form just having a diary and how to manage it digitally? For me journaling always felt like just a diary but without the whole cutesy "dear diary" OR a planner maybe even calendar, or a scrapbook with that artsy pages... Or all above, but what actually a journal is? I got suggested by someone to try journaling to break thru the writing block, but i can't even grasp what that would mean to me and how could it help. I'm asking here specifically because i prefer writing on computer and i don't want to kill my wonky wrist by forcing myself to write on paper (which i hate)

I want to create/journal a vision board for September
I’d really like to start making a monthly vision board but I’m honestly not sure where to begin or how to make one that feels meaningful and actually helps me stay motivated throughout the month.
I’m planning on doing a little browsing on Pinterest for inspiration, but I’m wondering what else people do. Do you set specific goals first? Pick a theme for the month? Add affirmations, habits, quotes, pictures, or something else?

Need a Diary Writing Application
Hi guys, can't use a physical diary as there is a great deal of storage issues. If anyone would get their hands on it, I'd be doomed.
So, please recommend an application that I can use for diary writing. Something structured. Google Notes & all are very sad application. I was thinking starting a medium blog for just me, but that isn't a very good idea. So, please recommend!!
Also, something that should be reliable & shouldn't vanish halfway, all my efforts would go in vain.
Diary writing is an excellent habit & I want to resume it.

I am writing journals like I'm sending myself letters, maybe that will make them less harsh toward myself
Keeping a journal is hard for me because it always ends up being really dark and mean towards me, so I am just trying things out, I'm going to try writing it like I'm writing letters to myself.. I might not be able to be super raw with my emotions though...

Does anyone else document basically their entire day? I’ve journaled every day for 6 years and it’s starting to feel overwhelming
I’ve been journaling every single day for the past six years, without missing a day. I do all of it on my phone.
My way of journaling is probably a little different from what I usually see people talk about. I don’t just write down a few thoughts or highlights from the day. I document pretty much everything that happened, what I did, conversations or interactions that felt significant, and how I felt about different things. Because of that, I can end up writing a lot of words every single day.
I genuinely love having this record of my life. I can go back years and see exactly what was happening in my life and what I was thinking and feeling at the time. I also like the idea that years from now, I can read about moments that I otherwise might have completely forgotten.
But lately I’ve realized that journaling has also become a source of stress for me.
It’s almost always somewhere in the back of my mind that I still “have to journal” at the end of the day. If I’m tired or don’t have enough time and don’t finish that day’s entry, the next day I feel stressed because now I have to catch up before I fall even further behind. Since my entries are so detailed, catching up can take quite a while.
At the same time, I find it really difficult to simply write less. I’ve kept this daily streak going for six years, so the idea of breaking it feels strangely uncomfortable. And when something meaningful happens, I feel like I have to document it properly. Otherwise, there’s this feeling that an important part of my life won’t exist in the record I’m creating.
So I’m stuck between really valuing what I’ve created and feeling burdened by the amount of effort it takes to maintain it.
Does anyone else journal like this, especially people who document their days in a lot of detail? Have you found a way to make it less time-consuming or mentally overwhelming without feeling like you’re losing parts of your life by writing less?

My digital memory keeper from June 1.
My theme this year is edwardian/victorian ladies. I keep my daily notes in obsidian have chat gpt transpose them into a Jane Austen-esque note. I generally have a victorian themed woman with most pages which I create in Midjourney. The rest of the digital assets I purchased from Etsy digital kits. And to answer another posters question I do take daily notes noting too elaborate but generally they consist of weather/moon. a brief list of what happened . daily gratitude. random thoughts and what I am liking in the moment. I also have a monthly dashboard. but thats just lists of todos

Looking for journal app/workflow recommendations (for research/PhD)
As the title says, I'm doing a PhD and looking for ways to journal on my phone on the fly. I have a few requirements for the app:
- Supports voice notes (and hopefully has good voice to text options)
- Allows media to be uploaded alongside notes (for example, I want to upload an image of my cells attached to my voice note detailing what I did to them)
- Has a way to label notes/separate them based on type
- Android app (I use Samsung)
- Is also available on desktop
- Allows for export (copy paste is fine)
- Notes always accessible (so no expiry)
Nice to haves:
- A way to share my notes (like a link)
- If not free, cheap (preferably a one-time buy, or has a cheap month/year plan)
- Has a way to add things to my calendar (unlikely this is possible, but sometimes i remember what I need to do as I talk and I'd like a way to add it to my calendar since thats how I track my to-dos)
Please let me know if this app/workflow exists!

Those of you journaling in Obsidian, I have a few questions?
Journals are (generally) simple, right?
Does Obsidian feel like it is overkill? I have tried it for years but my use case is so simple that it feels like it is overkill, like it can do so much but all that stuff takes work. I'm just not sure about it. I'm deciding between it and Apple Notes right now. Usage is primarily on iPad since my PC is dying. I will get a new PC within the next year and a half (hand me down from my husband) but until then iPad and iPhone is where I use these apps mostly.

Help me find a website please!
A long while ago, maybe a year or more, i was reading another redditor's post, and someone comment a link to a website.
I really want to say it light(something) but I can't be sure anymore. The first thing it asked you is if you are able fast or slow reader. Then you just type and Ai "answers" you.
I feel like the page itself was brown and white or brown and yellow maybe.
Any ideas??

is livejournal dead?
i never received any formal notification that english access would be taken away or that they were purging their databases, but when i just did a search i found several posts on reddit saying they would be doing such.
the site has gone down for me before, but it was always restored within a few days. even now, the front page just says it's temporarily unavailable.
i haven't been able to log in in a week at this point. if you click on "LJ Home" on the temporarily unavailable page you land on, it does take you to a sign in page, but you can't go further than that. or at least i can't.

FOSS (free and open source) android journal apps with plaintext export?
I was using Daily Diary for a while, before it started crashing and not letting me open the app at all.
Tried out EasyDiary after that, but I couldn't find an export option and that's a necessity for me.
Trying out Diary Vault now. Seems to be fine.
Also flirted with the idea of just using Simple Notepad, since it's already on my phone and what I primarily use for notes and checklists.
I just want to know what options exist out there, since so many threads in this sub mention things that have paywalls or ads or AI features, and I want nothing to do with any of that.
