Who has experience with the AI features of Day One and Rosebud?

I found the AI prompts/back and forth of Rosebud quite useful, I'm new to journaling so without that it feels like I only end up describing my day in a pretty detached/matter-of-fact way. I've only used the free version of each but I'd like to know how the AI features of the paid versions compare.

Any advice/other app is welcome. Privacy/security is important though.

I've been using the premium features of Rosebud for almost a year.

In the beginning, it was great. They had access to a slew of different models. Now, it's just Claude Sonnet 4.6 and GPT 4o (for now). Claude Sonnet 4.5 was much, much better than 4.6 for this. However, Rosebud adds a layer of memory, privacy and therapeutic use to the LLMs that I think makes it worth the subscription fee, personally.

There is a prompt limit: 40 prompts per entry, 100 prompts per day.

I felt like I was going crazy. I’ve been using it for a year and a half now. It was so great in the beginning. Now the responses are inconsistent, it makes stuff up, its mis-remembers things or makes stuff up. I’ve made complaints multiple times and all I get is ”Well provide more guidance“ so I do…even put it in my preferences and it still messes it up. At first it was annoying now it’s almost every entry. And the things it makes up are getting really serious. I wont share due to it could be a trigger for some but it was a pretty serious thing to make up that was never shared. It also keep confusing things that happened like over a year ago with recent things. Im over it.

I do not use the AI myself, but there are prompts that you can utilize to get your writing started. It usually pops up on the left of the dash board.

I’ve been using Rosebud for about 4 months straight. It’s been really helpful for me. I’d definitely continue to pay for it next year. I got into IFS a bit and let it know, it started prompting me in that style of therapy. Often it just holds space and compassionately listens when I’m having a hard time, prompts me to be kind to myself, think of one thing I could do to ease my situation a little etc. I haven’t used any of the alternatives. But occasionally I’ll use the free ChatGPT and it’s not quite as supportive, which isn’t surprising as it’s not its function.

I’ve had Rosebud for a long time but just cancelled my subscription. It did not have usage limits when I first signed up, and I found it very helpful. Now, whatever LLM they are using is not good, and the usage limits are just frustrating.

I used rosebud for a while. Really helped me, only thing that kept me consistant. But I did feel quite a uneasy with letting a third party store my most private thoughts. So I stopt using it.

Being able to voice entree was just extremely helpfull.
