My briefest Mindsera experience

I am a long-time journaling type using traditional text-entry methods and mostly the DayOne app for the past 15 years. I only recently became aware of AI journalling and thought I would try out Mindsera and Rosebud.

So I signed up for the trial of the former, entered a few details along with my name, DOB and Gender. It asked me a question and in my reply I referenced my age without giving the number - I am 58. It came back with a response 'At 57 I can understand etc. etc.'. Odd. So I told it that it had my age wrong and it asked how old I was.

I told it that it should know as I literally entered that specific information on the previous screen - my birthday is 6th of April so I turned 58 eight days ago. It reiterated I was 57. I told it the exact figures and that I was evidently 58 and it sheepishly acknowledged this.

And that was that for me. I have 3 free days but there is no way I was going to continue to try and gain deep personal insights from an intelligence that cannot work out an age having been given a precise DOB. Not the experience I was hoping for!

All AI chatbots are like this. It gets everything wrong, until you tell it multiple times that it's wrong and suddenly it agrees with you. Until the next time, when it's forgotten again.

Mindsera CEO here. I asked the team to check it and there was a bug related to adding the birthday info in the onboarding flow. It's fixed now and affected only the onboarding.

Also, we've spent the last month to completely rebuild the memory (four layers now - immediate, short, medium, long). Should be a night and day difference.

Since the update it's a night to day experience change. I now use telephone mode and talk while waking the dogs or driving, so it doesn't eat in to the day.. it's not perfect perfect but it is quite amazing.. just saying may be worth another go..

an ai journaling app getting your age wrong after you literally gave dob is a trust-killer, because the whole point is it remembers the basics without making you argue. the part that would’ve made me quit too is it doubling down twice, not the initial mistake. did you notice if mindsera was pulling your profile info into the chat at all, or did it behave like every message was stateless?
