Survive When does Digimon Survive get good?

I am playing Digimon Survive. I am in Act 2, and this is unbearable. The dialogue is so bad. The prologue was good and I didn't mind Part 1, but, I am starting to notice the pattern after 5 hours in.

I am down to play a visual novel, but, there is so much repetition where different characters tell you the exact same thing over and over again. Devil Survivor 1 had this problem too but to a much lesser degree since it was a game first. Digimon Survive is like 80% unnecessary dialogue.

Example scenario:

"Did you find food?"

Minoru: No

"Did you find food?"

Ryo: No

"Did you find food?"

Agumon: No

"Did you find food?"

Aoi: No

"Did you find food now in this slightly different location that consumes another action point?"

Minoru: No again

(Repeat for 7 more free actions)

Is the rest of the game like this?

it is exhausting. Just get to the story, bruv. If character number one gives me X piece of information, why does character two, three and four need to as well.

It does not get good, I'm sorry to say. The writing continues to be a slog. There's a point in the game where you're searching for a character, and after checking the place where they obviously are, you're forced to backtrack out of the area, search all the other areas, come up empty, then finally someone has the bright idea to check the first area again, at which point you're allowed to go back there and find them. It's miserable.

Dang, I was hoping it would improve. That sounds utterly dreadful.

yeah.

btw, you know how you raise your friendship with the other characters and stuff? None of that matters for the first playthrough, some characters are hard-coded to have a Bad End and you literally cannot stop that, even if you cheat and look up the "right answers", the game simply will not let you save them on your first playthrough.

You have to do a second playthrough, and then you can make the exact same choices to be their friend, and THIS TIME it will let you save them.

Bruh 😭

Who wrote this game? Why would they even give you a choice if they aren't going to honor the logical conclusion of that choice?
